GLASGOW — Chastiey Elaine Abston

GLASGOW – Chastiey Elaine Abston, 40, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Edward Abston and Wanda Whittaker Abston, of Glasgow, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Donte Abston; a daughter, Amber Abston; six brothers, Melvin Vance (Erica), Earl Vance (Pam), Terry Vance (Linda), Jerry Vance (Bonnie), Chris Vance and Claude Abston Jr.; two sisters, Kathy Vance Brannum (Timmy) and Jamie Jackson (Chester); 14 nieces and nephews; and her baby companion Chloe also survives.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Cory Vance.

Ms. Abston chose cremation and no services are scheduled at this time.



Edward Jackson ‘Jack’ Alexander

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Edward Jackson “Jack” Alexander, 90, of Mount Pleasant, S.C. died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at The Hospice Center in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

He was born July 4, 1922, in Lynn, West Va., to the late Richard Alexander and Kitty Carden Alexander. He was a World War II and Korean Army and Navy veteran, a member of First Baptist Church in Albemarle, N.C., and a retired teacher for Hardin County school system. He was united in marriage on May 12, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Clara Nell Martin Alexander who preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 1994.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jack and Eileen Alexander, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Martin and John Sullivan, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Jessie, Jim, Bill, Albert and Millard Alexander.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with John Sullivan, Rick Alexander and Larry Turner officiating. In case of inclement weather, the service will be at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until service time.



Nina Eva Creek Gisinger

MOUNT AUBURN, Ill. – Nina Eva Creek Gisinger, 97, of Mount Auburn, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1915, in Gamaliel, to the late Tomie and Mattie Lee (Proffitt) Crowe.

Visitation and funeral are scheduled for Saturday at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. with burial at Isenberg Cemetery in Monroe County.

 

William Porter Gott

SMITHS GROVE – William Porter Gott, 64, of Smiths Grove, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.

He was the son of the late John Clemons Gott and Maggie Blanche Hammonds Gott, and husband of Brenda Dodson Gott, who survives.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Martinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Raymond Earl Logsdon

BOWLING GREEN – Raymond Earl Logsdon, 87, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, Feb 5, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late Grover C. Logsdon and Artie Sermons Logsdon, and husband of the late Lillie Mae Logsdon.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, (Millers Hill) in Edmonson County, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Thursday at the church and continues until the hour of service on Saturday under the direction of Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.

 

Robert Norton McClendon

TOMPKINSVILLE – Robert Norton McClendon, 62, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Tooley McClendon, of Tompkinsville.

He was the son of Robert Beverly McClendon, of Tompkinsville, and the late Norma Jean Downing McClendon.

Visitation will be Saturday after 12 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Mount Nebo Cemetery in Tompkinsville.



Roy Jewell Pace

GALLATIN, Tenn. – Roy Jewell Pace, 94, of Gallatin, Tenn., and a former Glasgow resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Brandywood Nursing Home in Gallatin.

He was born in Allen County, the son of the late Roy Edwin and Lena Williams Pace. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Pluma Owens Pace.

Mr. Pace was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a manager for the A&P Grocery stores in Glasgow and Nashville. He was also a former employee of American Express and the Gallatin Marina. While living in Glasgow he was a member of Allen Lodge #24 F&AM, Glasgow Lions Club and Glasgow Baptist Church. Presently he was a member of Lincoya Hills Baptist Church in Donelson, Tenn.

He is survived by one son, Mike Pace (Donna), of Lebanon, Tenn.; two daughters, Bonny Logan, of Donelson, Tenn., and Karen Nunn, of Glasgow; two brothers, Louis Pace and James Pace (Marie), of Glasgow; a sister, Lois Norman, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Paul Logan (Marlene), of Hermitage, Tenn., Chris Logan, of Old Hickory, Tenn., Bo Logan (Janelle), of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Brandon Pace (Ashley), of Knoxville, Lesli Claiborne (Gary), of Fairview, Tenn., and Jeff Nunn (Sandy) and Will Nunn (Misty), of Glasgow; 11 great-grandchildren, Karista, Braiden and Eily Jewell Logan, Zackery and Abbey Jo Lynn Claiborne, Esther Elizabeth, Theodore and George Pace and Brock, Brooke and Parker Nunn.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Noble and William Harold Pace, and a sister, Emogene Pace.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Neal’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Saturday morning until time for the service.



Jerry Wayne Richards

BONNIEVILLE – Jerry Wayne Richards, 63, of Bonnieville, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home.  

The Brownsville native was a son of the late Larry Autrey Richards Sr. and Donna Mayrine Lindsey Richards.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Srygler Richards.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sego Funeral Home with Brother Lendell Shirley and Brother Adam Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Richards Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until time for services.



Cody Harbison Shive

GLASGOW – Cody Harbison Shive, infant son of Randall and Cynthia Shive, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.  

He is survived by his parents, Randall and Cynthia Shive, of Edmonton; one brother, Clay Shive; paternal grandmother, Betty Shive, of Edmonton; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Elaine Harbison, of Randolph; two aunts, Patricia Shive (Bobby), of Edmonton, and Jenny Shive (Homer), of Smiths Grove; one uncle, Clint Harbison (Kim), of Glasgow; four cousins, Junior Ray Grissom (Kaci), Makayla Pennington, Miranda Fields and McKenzie Grissom.  

Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Junior Shive.    

Graveside services for Cody will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Moore Springs Cemetery at Subtle.

GLASGOW – Brother Dexter Bacon Jr., 82, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be Thursday 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday morning until time for the service.



EDMONTON – Barry David Blythe,  44, of Edmonton, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



ELIZABETHTOWN – Dora A. Carby, 95, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hart County, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Elizabethtown Nursing Rehab in Elizabethtown.  

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at the church at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Upton. Brooks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
