GLASGOW —  

Lola Mae Doyle

SMITHS GROVE – Lola Mae Doyle, 91, of Smiths Grove, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late James Lige Cowles and Lula Myrtle Cole Cowles, and wife of the late Geneva Reed Doyle.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Otter Gap Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



Johnny Owens Reece

GLASGOW– Johnny Owens Reece, 63, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Metcalfe County, the son of the late Eugene and Maxine Garland Reece. Mr. Reece was an employee of Mid-State Recycling, an avid horse rider and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Compton Reece; two sons, Johnny Craig Reece (Tonya) and Chris Reece (Diane); a daughter, Buffy Winchester (Donald), all of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Trevor Reece, Cody and Chase Winchester, Katelyn and Baylee Reece and Nathan and Nicholas Fields; one great-grandson, Easton Fields; four brothers, Danny Reece (Charlene), Mike Reece (Barbara), Dale Reece (Glenda) and Stevie Reece, all of Glasgow; and three sisters, Lisa Bryant (Rusty), Marjorie Ritter (Sid) and Terri Shirley, all of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday and continue Sunday and Monday until time for the funeral.

Viola Katherine Harlow Short

HORSE CAVE – Viola Katherine Harlow Short, 84, of Horse Cave, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at her home.

Born in Hart County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Vernon Harlow and Bea Carter Harlow.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer Dean Short, of Horse Cave.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be given to Hospice of donor’s choice.



Mattie Lucille Smith

GLASGOW – Mattie Lucille Smith, 76, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

She was born in Monroe County, the daughter of the late Leo and Minnie Waller Frazier. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a former employee of Sorensen Mfg.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Turner (Chuck), of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Josh Turner (Christina), Erin Huff (Adam) and Brandi Honeycutt (Ben), all of Glasgow; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Turner; one brother, Huey Frazier, of Glasgow; a sister, Delzia Wiley (Harley), of Summer Shade; several nieces and nephews and the Turner family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lanos Darrell “Buck” Smith; a brother, Cliff Frazier and three sisters, Ruby Davis, Ruth Garmon and Agnes Chandler.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

BOWLING GREEN – Weldon Dallas Shepherd, 80, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at his residence. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery #2. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
