GLASGOW — Arden Ralph Checolinski

MUNFORDVILLE – Arden Ralph Checolinski, 58, of Munfordville, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.  

He was the son of the late Eugene Checolinski and the late Ruth Checolinski.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Checolinski.

The family has chosen cremation. A service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Inc.

 

James Howard Gray

HORSE CAVE – James Howard Gray, 74, of Horse Cave, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Bearwallow, a son of the late Woodie and Myrtle Garrison Gray.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Saturday until service time, at the funeral home.



Albert ‘Tom’ Thomas McNeely

LAKELAND, Fla. – Albert “Tom” Thomas McNeely, 93, died Feb. 12, 2013, due to natural causes.

He was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Farmington, and was raised on his family’s soy bean and tobacco farm. He graduated from Farmington High School.

Tom married Eva Katherine Green on Nov. 17, 1942, and shared 66 years of marriage before her death on July 19, 2009.

He was a World War II Army veteran, stationed and fought in the Aleutian Islands. He spent 33 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a registered licensed professional engineer. He retired after 27 years working with FEMA.

Tom was the Sunday school superintendent for First United Methodist Church in Manchester, Tenn. He was a 33rd degree Mason, Scottish Rite president, an ambassador of the Oleika Shriner Temple in Lexington and a member of the Eastern Star in Morehead. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, Fla. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, boating, refereeing high school basketball and became a world-class barbecuer, best known for his ribs.

Mr. McNeely is predeceased by his wife, Eva Katherine Green; father, Allen Tolbert McNeely; mother, Maggie Mae Hughes; sisters, Eva Boyd and Ida Ruth Boyd; and brothers, Otto, Carl, James B, and Billy Joe McNeely.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Pam), Pasadena, Calif., and Marshall (Kim), Lakeland, Fla.; daughter, Charlotte Gibson (Jim), Dothan, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, Fla. 33823 and the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 12502 Pine Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33612.

Mary Verna Alexander Pippin

METAIRIE, La. – Mary Verna Alexander Pippin, 73, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in Metairie, La.

Born in Hiseville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mary Marcum Alexander, and had resided in New Orleans for a number of years.

Survivors include two children, Darrell Richards and Mary Jo Richards Exposito; six grandchildren, Courtney, Darelynn, Cassidy, Kennidy, Jonathan Alexander, and Chaz; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Jayleigh; two brothers, Bill Alexander and Glenn Alexander; one sister, Sue Nell Grider.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Pippin; one brother, Joe Alexander; and one sister, Anna Katherine Strader.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

OAKLAND – Tommy Kimbro, 102, of Oakland, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



TOMPKINSVILLE – Garmon C. Rhoton, 68, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center. Funeral services at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, will be at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawn with military honors performed by the Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
