GLASGOW — John Bowlin

BOWLING GREEN — John Edward Bowlin, 83, of Bowling Green died Saturday, June 23, 2012,  at his residence.

He was the son of the late Alvis Bowlin and Pearl Pennycuff Bowlin and the husband of Doris Ewing Bowlin, who survives.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. No burial information was provided. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Martha Bunch

EDMONTON — Martha Florence Bunch, 73, of Edmonton, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.

She was the daughter of the late William and Dular White Judd. She was a homemaker and member of the Prices Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by two children, Steven and Sharon Bunch, both of Edmonton; two sisters, Dessie Bragg, of Edmonton, and Christine Judd, of Glasgow; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doyce Workman, of Greensburg, and Geneva Judd, of Edmonton, and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tex Bunch;  four brothers, Millard, Ernest, Harvie Lee and Owen Judd; three sisters,  Florene Workman, Mary Helen Bennett and Virginia Judd.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2  until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



William Bybee

HORSE CAVE — William Earl Bybee, 86, of Horse Cave, died at 9:33 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

He was a son of the late Nat and Ollie Sanders Bybee. Mr. Bybee was a retired farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Northtown Baptist Church.

He is survived by two nephews, David Bunnell and Tim Bunnell, both of Horse Cave; three nieces, Linda Sloan and Tammy Sloan, of Horse Cave, and Jean Philpott, of Munfordville; and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Zelpha Bunnell, Mary Lewis and Alma Embry; and two brothers, James and Charles Ernest Bybee.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Northtown Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Mary B. Evans

LAND ‘O LAKES, Fla. — Mary B. Evans, 81, of Land ‘O Lakes, Fla., died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, Fla. She was a former Hart County resident and the daughter of the late Jack R. Bumgardner and Mary Moss Bumgardner and the wife of the late Tilton Evans.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pearl Webb Cemetery in Canmer with burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Sego Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Alberta Lafferty

GLASGOW — Alberta Earle Hanson Lafferty, 85, of Glasgow, died Friday, June 22, 2012, in Glasgow.

Born in Edmonson County in what is now Mammoth Cave National Park, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Earl Hanson and Ethel Elizabeth Cutliff Hanson.  She was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and was a graduate of Hiseville High School. She attended Bowling Green Business University prior to working at Reynolds Metals in Louisville. Upon her return to Barren County, she was a loving care giver to her father and later retired from the National Park Concessions at Mammoth Cave National Park.

 Survivors include a daughter, Denise “Denny” Riddle (Larry), of Glasgow; a granddaughter, Emily Riddle Brown (Trevor), of Summer Shade; a grandson, Bradley Riddle (special friend Tiffany Davis), of Glasgow; a great-grandson, Hudson Brown; a sister, Doretha Bensenhaver (Charles), of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Laverne McGuire Hanson, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; several much loved cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hanson and Angie Hanson Gibbons; four brothers Olin, Dick, Leon and Charles Lewis Hanson, and a nephew, Lemuel Olin Hanson.

 Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June26, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Locust Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

William Steenbergen

LOUISVILLE — William Frank Steenbergen, 77, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was a native of Glasgow and an Air Force veteran.

Funeral ceremony will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, with entombment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
