GLASGOW — Nelda Janette DeWeese
GLASGOW — Nelda Janette DeWeese, 70, of Glasgow, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a daughter of the late George and Hazel Pedigo Carter. She attended United Faith Independent Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert DeWeese; four daughters: Paula (Robert) Humphrey, Pamela (Marvin) McKenzie, and Sheila Lawson, all of Glasgow, and Melinda (Tim) Brewster of Summer Shade; three sons: Michael (Kathy) DeWeese and Timmy (Melissa) DeWeese, both of Edmonton, and Chris (Mary) DeWeese of Summer Shade; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Janelle Lawson of Edmonton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Hagan; and one grandson, Robert Logan DeWeese Taylor.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Becky Ann Miller
BOWLING GREEN — Becky Ann Miller, 70, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Smith and Vena Pruett Smith and wife of the late Pryce B. Miller.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Darrell Sanford Matthews
GLASGOW — Darrell Sanford Matthews, 75, of Glasgow, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Chester and Rena Rigsby Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a retired self-employed carpenter and farmer and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Hancock Matthews; one daughter: Marla Bryant (Ricky) of Glasgow; two brothers: David Matthews (Barbara), and Doug Matthews (Becky), all of Glasgow; four grandchildren: Matthew Ballinger, Deanie Heers, Terra Vincent and Ethan Bryant; five great-grandchildren: Aden and Ashton Ballinger, Rylan and Landon Heers and Trapper Vincent; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra “Mikki” Matthews York; and two brothers: Donald and Doyle Matthews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the funeral home.

Lucille Hensley Trent
HORSE CAVE — Lucille Hensley Trent, 87, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Hart County Health Care Center.
She was the daughter of the late Noah L. Hensley and Hettie Conyers Hensley and wife of the late Reid Trent.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Immanuel Ministry Church, under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave. Burial will follow in the Cosby Cemetery.
James Eldon Veach
FOUNTAIN RUN — James Eldon Veach, 80, of Fountain Run, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services for James Eldon Veach will be conducted Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Fountain Run First Baptist Church in Fountain Run, with Brothers Ron Norrod and Herman Wilkins officiating. Interment will be in the Neal Cemetery in Flippin. Deacons of the Fountain Run First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Grandsons Chris, Jamie and Caleb Veach, Tyler Boles, Lee and Lane Driver will serve as pallbearers.
Eldon was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Warren County, the son of the late Garrett and Dora Key Veach.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Henry and Joe Veach; and sister, Elizabeth Gosnell.
He married his wife, Louise Veach, on June 24, 1955, who survives.
He worked hard as a farmer and served as city councilman for 13 years and as mayor of Fountain Run for 17 years. He was a member of Fountain Run First Baptist Church in Fountain Run.
Other than his wife, Louise, he is survived by two sons: James H. “Jimmie” Veach (Yvette) and Gary Joe Veach (Candy); one brother: William “Bill” Downing, all of Fountain Run; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the CLC Building and Fountain Run Fire Department.

GLASGOW — Samuel D. Davis, 73, of Glasgow, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital after a long and brave battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
GLASGOW — Rita Rose Oswald, 88, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, Neb., with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Neb. A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. There will be no services locally. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
