Dan Evans Baker

EIGHTY EIGHT — Dan Evans Baker, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his home.

He was a retired farmer and a son of the late William Doll and Crittie Farlee Baker.

He is survived by two daughters: Dantha Jo Crisp, of North Carolina, and Wanda Baker, of Eighty Eight; and two step daughters: Barbara Shaw, of Summer Shade and Joan Long of Edmonton; three sons: Willard Baker and James Evans Baker, both of Franklin; and one step son, Jimmy White of Glasgow; three sisters: Sylvia Gilbert, of Burkesville, Etta Hoard, of Lebanon, and Yvonna Hardin, of Bardstown; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Baker; two sons: Roger Baker and Keith Thacker; and brothers: John W. Baker and Edsel Baker.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with Brother Doug Parks and Brother Elvin Milam officiating. Interment will be in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help with funeral expenses.



Duel Sanders

CEDAR SPRINGS — Duel Sanders, 71, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Rev. Charlie E. Sanders and Millie Highbaugh Sanders. He was a carpenter and a member of McClure Masonic Lodge No. 539 F&AM; and Nolin United Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Nadine Cook Sanders of Cedar Springs; one son: Bobby Sanders (Kennetha) of Cave City; two daughters: Pamela Decker (Hoppy) of Pig, and Regina Driver (Darrell Jr.) of Bowling Green; six grandchildren: Nadina Alexander (Kevin), Ashley McCombs (Josh), Preston Driver, Jacob Decker, Cody Sanders and Luke Sanders; two great-grandchildren: Gavin Alexander and Nolan Alexander; two brothers: Oda Sanders (Rosalee) of Pig, and Billy Sanders (Barbara) of Mammoth Cave; six sisters: Cora Sanders of Brownsville, Daphna Sanders of Rhoda, Josie Taylor (David) of Cub Run, Barbara Watt (Billy) of Oakland, Betty Childress (Michael) of Kessinger, and Cleo Brown (Bill) of Mammoth Cave.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Christine Gipson and Delta Sanders; and two brothers: Clarence Sanders and Japeth Sanders.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Cedar Springs United Baptist Church, with burial in Lambert Cemetery with masonic rites by McClure Masonic Lodge No. 539. Visitation continues from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel.

Brenda Jo Schaffer

MAGNOLIA — Brenda Jo Schaffer, 63, of Magnolia, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Eugene McManamy and Ruth Trimble of Murray, Ky.

Other than her mother, she is survived by her husband Glenn Schaffer.

Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Linwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentucky or National Special Olympics or to the Linwood Fire Department.



Rondal ‘Gene’ Vibbert

GLASGOW — Rondal “Gene” Vibbert, 75, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2009 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Virgil Vibbert and the late Cora Walker Vibbert.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, with burial in Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.



Anita Carol Whitlock

ELKHORN — Anita Carol Whitlock, 40, of Elkhorn, KY, died Friday August 21, 2009, at her father’s home in Glasgow. Born in Barren County the daughter of Randy Gray and the late Georgia Carol “Patty” Young. Mrs. Whitlock was a homemaker and a waitress for Bel-Air Restaurant in Edmonton.

Survivors include her husband Jessie Whitlock of Elkhorn; her father Randy Gray (Cheryl) of Glasgow; 3 sons Tyler Estes and Chase Pennington of Glasgow, Jessie Joe Whitlock of Elkhorn; 1 daughter Trinity Estes of Glasgow; brother James Arterburn (Christine) of Bowling Green; 2 sisters, Melissa Scott (Derrick) of Marrowbone and Michelle Gray of Glasgow; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special friends from school Tina Smith and Tina Carver; 1 special friend and caregiver Megan Pennington.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon on Sunday.

Louie ‘Sonny’ Wimpee

GLASGOW — Louie “Sonny” Wimpee, 61, of Glasgow, died Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be under the direction of the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

GLASGOW — Bennie Carl Nichols, 90, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at his residence. There will be a memorial service on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Barren County Primitive Baptist Meeting House, located at the corner of Lick Branch and New Salem roads. A private burial was held at the Bowles Cemetery under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to T.J. Samson Hospice.
