Hattie Elaine Abston
GLASGOW – Hattie Elaine Abston, 51, of Glasgow died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Clarene Wilson Abston. Mrs. Abston was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Bryan Wood of Glasgow; one brother, Curtis Abston Jr. of Glasgow; one sister, Betty Ballard of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maylo Lynn Abston.
The family chose cremation for Mrs. Abston and no services are scheduled at this time. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Rebecca Sue Barbour
GLASGOW – Rebecca Sue Barbour, 69, of Glasgow, died Saturday night Aug. 22, 2009, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Roy Carl Powell and Christine Owen Powell. Sue was retired from Farmers Rural Electric Co-op Corp. after 40 years. She was a member of Homemakers and the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John; one daughter, Audra Read and husband Josh of Glasgow; one son, Derrand Hagan of Glasgow; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Barbour of Cave City; six grandchildren; and a brother, Bobby Powell and wife Pam of Florence.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Olivia Skipworth Burnette
BOWLING GREEN – Olivia Skipworth Burnette, 85, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at a local nursing home.
She was the daughter of the late John Milton Skipworth and Willie Gertrude Skipworth and wife of the late Horace Burnette.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Wilbur Floyd Chapman
GLASGOW – Wilbur Floyd Chapman, 74, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Robert Ralph Dyer
TOMPKINSVILLE – Robert Ralph Dyer, 87, of Tompkinsville, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Monroe County Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Sam Dyer and Rosey Strong Dyer.
Survivors included his wife, Sarah Frances Smith Dyer of Tompkinsville.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Clay Garnett Mills
BOWLING GREEN – Clay Garnett Mills, 92, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was the son of the late Alva Mills and Eula “Bryant” Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Wilson” Mills of Bowling Green.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation will from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert Sherrell Richey
GLASGOW – Robert Sherrell Richey, 58, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Robert Dexter Richey and Ruth Arlene Copas Richey of Glasgow, who survives. Mr. Richey was a former truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Caney Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cash Richey; a daughter, Nikki Richardson and husband John of Glasgow; his mother, Ruth Arlene Copas Richey of Glasgow; mother-in-law, Evelyn Cash of Glasgow; two brothers, Steve Richey and wife Sandy of Mount Hermon and Jeff Richey and wife Heather of Hiseville; and two grandchildren, Andy and Brooklyn Richardson of Glasgow. Two nephews and one niece also survive.
In addition his father, Robert Dexter Richey, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Scott Clark.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after noon on Monday at the funeral home.

Louie ‘Sonny’ Wimpee
GLASGOW – Louie “Sonny” Wimpee, 61, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Lester and Oleta Milburn Wimpee. Mr. Wimpee was a lifelong banker and was formerly employed by New Farmers National Bank in Glasgow, Bank of Marrowbone and several other local banking institutions. He was very active in community affairs and was very active as a member and officer in the Glasgow-Barren County Jaycees. He was also a member of the Barren County Chamber of Commerce and had served on the Glasgow Golf and Country Club Board of Directors.
Survivors include two daughters, Aimee Bratcher and husband Eric of Bowling Green and Julee Wimpee of Bowling Green; two grandsons, Kade Bratcher and Wells Bratcher of Bowling Green; his stepmother, Geneva Shirley of Glasgow; and one aunt, Thelma Dossey Monroe of Bowling Green.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Baise Wimpee, and his stepfather, Joe Bowles.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
