GLASGOW — Raymond Cowles

BOWLING GREEN — Raymond D. Cowles, 73, of Bowling Green, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Wilbur Cowles and Betty Wells Cowles.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Otter Gap Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.



Barbara Ann Puckett

MUNFORDVILLE — Barbara Ann Puckett, 67, of Munfordville, died Saturday morning at University Hospital in Louisville.

She was a daughter of the late Ervin O’Neal and Mable Comstock O’Neal and the wife of the late Chester Puckett.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Neal Officiating. Burial will be in Munfordville Separate Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



Jeff D. Staples Jr.

MUNFORDVILLE — Jeff D. Staples Jr., 84, of Munfordville, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was retired from Louisville Bedding Company and attended Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was the son of the late Jeff Staples and the late Mary Taylor Staples and husband to the late Geraldine Hudson Staples.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Renick, of Pigeon Forge, TN; three sisters, Ann Logsdon (Gary), of Hardyville, Joyce Hockersmith, of Louisville, Helen Digh (Charlie), Lake Charles, LA; one brother, James “Jimmy” Staples (Betty), Munfordville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and caregiver, Gloria “Ilene” Menchaca, Munfordville.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Alan Staples; one brother, John Lee “Sandy” Staples; two sisters, Geraldine “Gerry” Wilson and Gayle Hawkinberry.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at Brooks Funeral Home with Brother Danny Sallee officiating. Interment will be at Center Point Cemetery in Munfordville. Memorial donations can be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.



Mary Waters

CAVE CITY — Mary Elizabeth Jeffries Waters, 87, of Cave City, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born in Indiana, a member of the Cave City Church of Christ and retired after 37 years from the Mammoth Cave Garment Company. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Bryant Jeffries and Lillian Taylor Jeffries; her husband, Marvin T. Waters; four brothers, Garland, Charles, Marvin and Garrell Jeffries; two sisters, Elsie Lane and Glenna Todd; and one grandson, David Wayne Houk.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Estes Houk (Charles), of Horse Cave and Margaret Estes Thornsbury (Joseph), of Virginia Beach VA; three grandchildren, Sarah Highbaugh, Judith Jones (Mark), Jeffrie Thornsbury (Christine); six great-grandchildren, Thaddeus Highbaugh, Lindsay Highbaugh, Katherine Jones, Quentin Jones, Elizabeth Jones and McKenna Thornsbury; one sister, Jewell Steed, of Johnson City, NY; one brother, William (Billy) Jeffries, of Horse Cave, and also by neices, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the Chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until funeral time on Wednesday.



Virginia D. Wilborn

SUMMER SHADE — Virginia D. Wilborn, 83, of Summer Shade, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.

The Monroe County native was a daughter of the late Harley and Eva Gentry Billingsley and wife of the late Gerald Wilborn.

She was a retired employee of Monroe County Medical Center and was a member of the Union #2 Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie Garrett (Ivan Wright), of Summer Shade; one granddaughter, Kim Lambert (Owen), of Glasgow; one great-grandchild, Kaci Johnson (Seth Ray); two great-great-grandchildren, Landon Wilkerson and Aidin Adwell; two sisters, Sally Grenead, of Summer Shade, and Ruth Compton (William), of Indianapolis; one brother, Richard Billingsley, of Tenn.; and special friend, Huey Frazier.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Justin Wilkerson; and one brother, Robert Billingsley.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Berlon Ray officiating. Burial will follow in White Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to White Cemetery c/o McMurtrey Funeral Home at 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY 42166.
