GLASGOW — Hildred Gibson

EDMONTON — Hildred Gibson, 82, of Edmonton, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Metcalfe County Health Care in Edmonton.

He was the son of the late Sylvester and Lonie Mae Jessie Gibson. He was a retired carpenter and member of the Missionary Mound Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Gibson, of Edmonton; one son, Dale (Pam) Gibson, of Edmonton; two grandchildren, Amanda Gibson, of Edmonton, and Matthew (Karen) Gibson, of Tompkinsville and one great-grandchild, Mason Gibson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Elsie Gibson; half-brother, Trent Gibson and infant sister, Mildred Gibson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Margaret Ann Boze Nicholas

SMITHS GROVE – Margaret Ann Boze Nicholas, 80, of Smiths Grove, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Luke Edwin Boze and Mary Francis Dunkin Boze, and the wife of the late Roy James Nicholas.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Forest Church, with burial in Hays Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel.



Vernon D. Pippin

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Vernon D. Pippin, husband of Mary Verna Alexander Pippin, formerly of Hiseville, passed away on Dec. 8, 2012. Vernon resided in New Orleans, La., and was retired from Noble Drilling Corporation.

He was the stepfather of Mary Jo Richards Exposito and Darrell Richards; brother of Henry, Jimmy and Sammy Pippin; and grandfather to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 12, starting at 10 a.m., with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hiseville Cemetery.

Rosemary Coe Colter Pirtle

GLASGOW – Rosemary Coe Colter Pirtle, 80, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home.

She was born in Monroe County, the daughter of the late James Robert Coe and Doyle Russ Pitcock Coe. Rosemary was an employee at Handmacher/Glasgow Mfg. for 26 years and Bank 1 in Lexington for 10 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Lee Ann Wyatt-Caudill (James), of Glasgow; two grandsons, Matthew Jennings Wyatt and Jonathan Kyle Wyatt; two brothers, Jerry Coe (Sue) and Terry Coe (Sue), both of Glasgow; two sisters, Rene` Jones, of Glasgow, and Beatrice Oliver (Darryl), of New Albany, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Pirtle; a son, William Thomas Colter Jr.; two brothers, Carlie Fay Coe Sr. and Noble Dean Coe; and a sister, Ruby Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until time for the service.

Brenda Joyce Stockton

GLASGOW – Brenda Joyce Stockton, 58, of Glasgow, died Monday, Dec.10, 2012, in Glasgow.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late James Childress and Aline Sublett Curd. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher board, and was a former member of the choir.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Stockton and Keith Stockton, both of Glasgow; a daughter, Asani J. Howard, of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Aaron Huffman, Joselyn Waffird, Jamari Stockton and Jordan Stockton, all of Glasgow; five sisters, Ramona Curd and Willie Bush, of Glasgow, Ann Allen, of Bowling Green, Juanita Bridges, of Louisville, and Cheryl Nettles, of Whitesville, Tenn.; seven brothers, Tony Curd, of Bowling Green, Dickie Curd, of Chicago, Ill., Fred Curd, of Shepherdsville, Jimmy Martin, of Louisiana, Leroy Martin, of Louisville, Timmy Martin, of Louisville, and Ronnie Martin, of Glasgow; a special friend, James “Happy” Neal, of Glasgow; a special cousin, Linda Kay Buckner, of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Avion Jermaine Stockton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dennis Ray Gilland Sr., 67, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Mr. Gilland chose cremation and a graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Pearl Pritchard Greer, 104, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Barren County Health Care in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.



Ollis Bradley Sexton, 79, of Edmonton, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Bragg Cemetery.



Brently H. Stice, 51, of Shepherdsville, formerly of Brownsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in Brownsville. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Hawkins Cemetery.



Peggy Vanderpool, 66, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her mother’s home in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home. Burial will be in Goodman Cemetery at Munfordville. Memorial donations to Seventh Day Adventist Church, 119 Stewart Drive, Glasgow, KY 42141.



Elsie Opal Wood, 90, of Glasgow, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Glenview Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Union No. 1 Cemetery in Fountain Run.
