GLASGOW — Evans Bowman

TEMPLE HILL — Evans Bowman, 87, of Temple Hill, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born at Rock Bridge in Monroe County, the son of the late Clarence Bliss Bowman and Sue Jane Miller Bowman. Evans was a farmer and an employee at Tyson/SKF for 43 years. He was a member, a deacon and former adult Sunday school teacher at Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Temple Hill Lions Club and was one of the founders of the Temple Hill Little League program. Mr. Bowman was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife Betty Bacon Bowman; one son, Gerry Bowman and wife Becky, of Temple Hill; one daughter, Melanie Jones and husband Larry, of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Christy Bartley and husband Chris, Ashley Thompson and husband Richie, Travis Bowman, Christopher Jones and wife Nicole, and Suzanne Cunningham and husband Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Becca Grace Bartley, Chapel Elizabeth Thompson and Mathias and Josephine Jones; one sister, Sue Carol Jaggers, of Glasgow; three brothers-in-law, Maxie Oliver, of Michigan, Gordon Larson, of Florida, and Joe Donald Bacon and wife Donnie Sue, of Eighty Eight; a sister-in-law, Shirley Bacon, of Glasgow; and his nieces and nephews Doris McKinley, Brenda Marrs, Bill Marrs, Martha Yezerski, Marlene Anderson, Romaine Webber, David Larson, Dan Larson, Ken Oliver and Dan and Dave Bacon.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Marrs, O’Neil Larson and Christine Oliver.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday.

William Brown Sr.

BOWLING GREEN — William Franklin Brown Sr., 66, of Bowling Green, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his residence.

He was son of the late Clifford A. and Daisy Mae Thomas Brown and the husband of the late Brenda Sue Hunton Brown.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday with Masonic service at 7:30 at the funeral home.



Curtis Bush

GLASGOW — Curtis Bush, 70, of Glasgow, passed away Friday March 8, 2013, at University of Louisville Medical Center.

He was a Barren County native and a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver and a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a P.O.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bush and Sally Mae Clines Bush, his former wife Mary, and by one brother, Donald Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Dean Bush, of Glasgow; two daughters, Donna Sue Perkins, of Glasgow, and Rana Bush, of Owensboro; one son, Randy Bush ,of Owensboro; one step-son, Kevin Thompson, of Chalybeate; two step-daughters, Donna Reece, of Auburn, and Samantha Jump, of Merry Oaks; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren; three brothers, George Cleo Bush, of Horse Cave, Joseph Leo Bush, of Louisville, and Ernest Wilbur (Bill) Bush, of Winchester, Tenn. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the gravesite by DAV Chapter No. 20, Glasgow. Visitation from 5:30 until 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.



Juanita Dorst

WEBSTER, Fla. — Juanita Louise Dorst, 76, of Webster, Florida, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Sumterville, Fla. She was born May 26, 1936 in Wayne, N.J.

Mrs. Dorst worked as a housekeeper at the Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, N.J. and at Idelease Nursing Home, West Milford, N.J. She also worked at Osprey Point Nursing Center, Bushnell, Fla. as a launderer and cleaned the Sumter County Courthouse. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bushnell.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Robin) Dorst, of Orlando, Fla., Edward (Betty) Dorst of Franklin, N.J., and Anthony (Dordeen) Dorst of Port Jervis, N.Y.; daughters, Mary (Rex) Fountain of Croom-A-Coochee, Fla., Glenda (Danny) Nichols, of Park City, and Anna Shauger, of Cave City; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth N. Catlin, Jr. of Falon, Nev.; and sister, Pat (Russel) Williams, of Bayone, N.J.

In honor of Mrs. Dorst, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 237 E. Marks St., Orlando, FL 32803 or to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.

Fred Johnson

SCOTTSVILLE — Fred Johnson, 81, of Scottsville, died on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 3:57 p.m. at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Celina, Tenn., native was a son of the late Dewey Creed Johnson and Lucy Gray Key Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Pearl Johnson, of Scottsville.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Goad Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Keen officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  



Elzie Ray Madison

LOUISVILLE — Elzie Ray Madison, 69, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in an automobile crash. He was an Edmonson County native and a son of the late Everette and Lucille Vincent Madison.

He is survived by his wife, Dottie Madison, of Louisville.

Visitation at Patton Funeral Home in Brownsville will be noon until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. EST at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville. Visitation will continue Monday in Louisville beginning at 9 a.m. until time for funeral service at 11 a.m. at Zion United Baptist Church, Ralston Avenue, with burial to follow in Lone Hill Cemetery.



Kerry L. Trent

HODGENVILLE — Kerry L. Trent, 68, of Hodgenville, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Adrine Lane Trent.

He is survived by his wife, Helen J. Trent, of Hodgenville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Barren Run Cemetery in Sonora. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be given to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

CUB RUN – Gertie Esther Hawkins, 96, of Cub Run, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Cherry Springs Baptist Church, with Brother Paul Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Springs Cemetery, Cub Run.



GLASGOW – Herman Cecil Moore, 75, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
