GLASGOW — Nelazine ‘Nelda’ Goodhue

GLASGOW – Nelazine “Nelda” Goodhue, 75, of Glasgow, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Emma York Vibbert and wife of the late Bobby Joe Goodhue. Mrs. Goodhue attended the Glasgow Bible Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Inman, of Glasgow; a grandson, Joey Inman and wife Michelle, of Glasgow; two great-grandchildren, Weston Thomas Inman and Carson Ann Inman; a sister, Nett Goff, of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Hurt and two brothers, Homer and Speck Vibbert.

Graveside services will 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Jerry Lee Graves

TOMPKINSVILLE – Jerry Lee Graves, 68, of Tompkinsville, passed away Saturday, March 9, at his residence. Jerry was born in Tompkinsville, on August 15, 1944, a son of the late Enner (Kirkpatrick) and Radford Graves.

Funeral services will be conducted at Yokley Trible Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, with Fontis Pipken, Larry Graves, and Mike Turner officiating.

Visitation is Friday, March 15 after 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Burial is in the Mount Nebo Cemetery.



Christy Reece Houchens

EDMONTON – Christy Reece Houchens, 43, of Edmonton, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at her home.

She was the daughter of the late George Reece and Eloise Hatcher Reece, of Edmonton, who survives.

Besides her mother she is survived by two sons; Daniel Ballard and wife Courtney, of Edmonton and James Robertson, of Edmonton; one daughter, Amy Glass and husband John, of Edmonton; one brother, Eddie Reece and wife Alisha, of Edmonton; her paternal grandmother Margaret Reece, of Knob Lick; her companion, Luke Ballard, of Glasgow; nine grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by one brother Chad Reece.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Berniece Jones

CENTER – Elizabeth Berniece Jones, 80, of Center, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She was the daughter of the late Rupert Earl and Zora Nunn Kidd.     

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial in the Houk Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.  



Barry V. Locke

ORLANDO, Fla. – Barry V. Locke, 74, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his residence in Orlando, Fla. He was the son of Pete Locke and Sara Nell Seymore Locke.

No services are scheduled at this time. A Community Funeral Home & Sunset Cremations, Orlando, is in charge of the arrangements.



Michael E. ‘Mikey’ McCabe

COLUMBUA, Ohio – Michael E. “Mikey” McCabe, 39, died Sunday March 10, 2013, at Grant Hospital in Columbus.

He was born May 12, 1973, in Zanesville, Ohio, to James McCabe and Mary (Martin). He was preceded in death by his biological father, James, and his McCabe grandparents. Michael attended the Woods Creek United Methodist Church in Glasgow, Ky. He was an avid fisher and hunter, and loved Nascar. He often did without food and supporting himself in order to help others whom he thought needed it. He was also always there to help out his “Poppy” on the farm.

He is survived by his mother, Mary, and “Poppy” Thomas Rutledge, who he had spent his most recent years with in Kentucky, his step-father who raised him, Denny Wyers of Ravenna; sister, Shellie (Tom) Savage, of Warsaw; brother, Jaycen (Holly) Wyers, of Cambridge, sister-in-law, Kim Wyers, of Columbus, and brother, Jerry Rutledge; children, Tesa Michael McCabe of Coshocton, Austin “Pete” Berg, of Cambridge, and Darren Wolverton, of Cambridge, grandparents, Ivan and Jean Martin, of Chandlersville, and Raymond and Joyce Wyers, of Cambridge, nieces and nephews, Shane, Chris, Shalene, Jaycen, Tommi D., Courtney, Treva, Brea, Jas, Kari “Little”, and Destini, special friend Danielle, and several cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Oval Morris Proffitt

GLASGOW – Oval Morris Proffitt, 80, of Glasgow, was received by his Savior on Monday March 11, 2013, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born on April 3, 1932 in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Eskel and Amy Kingery Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was a member of the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Army and worked for All Pest Chemical, Goodyear Tire and Tyson’s of Glasgow.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virginia “Louise” Birge Proffitt; two sons, Dennis Ray Proffitt and wife Linda, of Glasgow and Charles Nelson Proffitt and wife Heather, of Beechmont; four grandchildren, Christy Johns, Debbie, Quaid and Aven Proffitt; two great-grandchildren, Sage and Sylar Johns; a sister, Rose Nell Crow and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Herbert Gene Proffitt.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
