ALVATON – David Wayne Alford, 63, of Alvaton, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Bowling Green
He was the son of the late John Alford Jr. and Oma Lee Lay Alford and husband of Odessa Gibbs Alford, who survives.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.
Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Jesse Tanner Bowman
TOMPKINSVILLE – Jesse Tanner Bowman, 21, of Tompkinsville, passed away, Friday Jan. 18, 2013, at Livingston Hospital, in Livingston, Tenn., from the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Jesse was born in Glasgow, on May 21, 1991, a son of Jo (Scott) Durrett and Bill Bowman, both of Tompkinsville. Jesse was a student at Tennessee Technical Center in Livingston, Tenn,, majoring in collision repair. He also worked at Backyard Bar-B-Que.
Jesse is survived by his parents, Jo (Rick) Durrett and Bill Bowman, his sister, Laura Bowman, and his brother, Brock Bowman, all of Tompkinsville; and also his girlfriend, Brittani Welch, of Gamaliel.
Jesse is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Quint Scott; paternal grandparents, Willie and Geraldine Bowman, all of Tompkinsville.
Jesse was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ann Scott.
Funeral services were at First Baptist Church, in Tompkinsville, on Monday, Jan. 21. Shannon Arnett, Ben Carter and Bradley Emmert officiated. Burial was in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Emogene Dunbar
GLASGOW – Mary Emogene Dunbar, 80, of Glasgow, died Friday, Jan.18, 2013, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
She was born in Monroe County, the daughter of the late Mosie Sherfey and Neva Burks Sherfey. Mrs. Dunbar was a homemaker and member of South Green Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Dunbar, of Glasgow; two daughters, Debbie Toms (Dennis), of Glasgow and Donna Beard (Steve), of Bowling Green; one son, Barry Dunbar (April), of Glasgow; six grandchildren, David Matthews (Tiffany), of Edmonton, Justin Matthews (Jennifer), of Illinois, Jeremy Beard (Sherri), of Bowling Green, Dustin Beard (Chenoa), of Lexington and Kaley and Mason Dunbar, both of Glasgow; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, Kaitlyn Matthews and Avery and Keelan Beard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Roger Burks and Paul Sherfey.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.
Quentin R. England
GLASGOW – Quentin R. England, 81, of Glasgow, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at his home.

Carolyn Terry Hare
HORSE CAVE – Carolyn Terry Hare, 78, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at her home near Horse Cave.
The Barren County native was the daughter of William S. Terry Jr. and Frances Cheaney, who preceded her in death. She was the granddaughter of William S. Terry Sr. and Caroline T. Smith, of Barren County, and Herbert M. and Georgia Ann Lester Cheaney of Henderson. She was born at Oakwood Farm on Jan. 22, 1934. She was an educator in the Hart County School System for 32 years, having taught at Hart Memorial High School and Munfordville High School for 10 years and served as Instructional Supervisor for the system for 22 years. She was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association and a former member of the Ladies Matinee Musicale, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and several professional organizations. She was a life-long member of the Christian Church and at the time of her death was a member of Horse Cave Christian Church where she was a volunteer for the Clothes Closet Mission Project. She was a proud Alumnae of the University of Kentucky having graduated in 1957.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Elvin R. Hare, of Horse Cave; her brother, William S. Terry III, of Bear Wallow; her nephew, W. Samuel Terry IV, of Glasgow. She is also survived by two cousins, Peggy Cheaney Mays, of Henderson, and Thomas M. Cheaney, of Louisville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is in progress at the funeral home and will continue on Tuesday after 9 a.m., until funeral time.
Dorothy Britt Lyle
SCOTTSVILLE – Dorothy Britt Lyle, 85, of Scottsville, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care.
The Old Hickory, Tenn., native was a homemaker, a babysitter, a former employee of Washington Overall Manufacturing, a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R). She was a daughter of the late Ralph Crawford and Bonnie Stafford Crawford and wife of the late Jesse Dee Britt and Bailey Lyle.
She is survived by three sons, Dannie J. Britt, and wife Deanne, Plainfield, Ind., Jeff D. Britt, and wife, Zeny, Glasgow, and Dean Allen Britt, and wife Marsha, Scottsville; three daughters, Cheyanne Zink, and husband Mickey, Weslaco, Texas, Sandy Chansler, and husband Mike, Jacksonville, Fla., and Connie Sue Britt, Scottsville; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Goad Funeral Home, with Brother Shane Britt and Brother Marcus Sherfey officiating and burial in Dover Cemetery with Brother Mark Townsend officiating. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Tamassee D.A.R. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
Kenneth Wayne (Kenny) Minick
HORSE CAVE – Kenneth Wayne (Kenny) Minick, 55, of Horse Cave, passed away Sunday Jan. 20, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Nashville, Tenn., and worked for Pan-Oston and J.L. French as a painter. He loved his C.B. radio and was known as (Dynamite) to all his C.B. friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar Minick and Kaye Shannon Stone.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Minick, of Horse Cave; six daughters, Cindy Walker and her husband Joe, of Sulphur Well, Melodie Brown and her husband Charlie, of Lucas, Shannon Mercer and her husband David, of Cave City, Amanda Combs and her husband Brian, of Glasgow, Danielle Minick, of Louisville and Melissa Bailey, and her husband Joel, of Horse Cave; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Minick Jr., and wife Phyllis, Tommy Minick, and wife, and Bobby Minick, and wife Terri, all of Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special cousin, Barbara Huff Myers, of Arizona.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lighthouse Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:30 until 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until funeral time on Wednesday.
Joe T. Morris
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Joe T. Morris, 86, of Boca Raton, Fla., and formerly of Bowling Green, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Boca Raton.
He was born Oct.13, 1926, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Ernest and Geneva Shawn Morris.
Joe was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a Buick dealer in Hartford, but was best known as the owner of Morris Motors, the Volkswagen dealership in Bowling Green, for several years. He and his wife retired in 1973, then both earned their bachelor’s degrees from Western Kentucky University. They traveled extensively in their motor home during their retirement years having visited all 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada. He also enjoyed traveling in Europe, in fact, he celebrated his 80th birthday while touring France.
Joe had a special gift for encouraging people and bringing out the best in them. He was a father-figure to two young men whom he called his “boys,” Jerry McKinney and Jimmie Duvall. Both were new to the auto business when he met them and he taught them by example. He had a kind manner about him when dealing with his staff and his customers. Joe easily made friends and was loved by many people both here and in Florida as well. He was always so kind and polite to everyone.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nadine Boyd Morris. He is further survived by five nieces: Dr. Paula Wheeler (Mark), of Owensboro, Charla Malaney (Frank), of New Brunswick, Ga., Dorothy Root of Eddyville, Naomi Bilbro, of Apollo Beach, Fla., and Annette Carter (Ralph), of Portland, Tenn.; plus a host of friends who will miss his warm smile and pleasant demeanor.
A memorial service was conducted Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with a military service that followed. Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Ellis Lee Pedigo
BOWLING GREEN – Robert Ellis Lee Pedigo, 55, of Bowling Green, died Friday, Jan. 18. 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late James A. Pedigo and Olene Turner Pedigo, who survives.
He is survived by his companion, Mary Lou Neal.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Burial was in Rocky Hill Cemetery at Bugtussel.
GLASGOW – Cornell Stephens, 83, of Center, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
He was born in Tompkinsville, the son of the late Tim C. and Verda O. Williams Stephens. He was a member of Center Church of Christ. He was a retired educator of 37 years having been principal of North Metcalfe Elementary School for 28 years (1959-1987). He was an Army veteran of the Korean War having served in Germany.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Gittings Stephens; three daughters, Diana (Ronnie) Smith, of Center, Connie (David) Travis, of Owensboro, Susan Kay Stephens, of Center; one son, Bennie C. Stephens, of Center; two grandchildren, Angela (Jamie) Powell, of Irmo, S.C. and Justin D. Smith, of Center; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kellen Powell of Irmo, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Richardson and Blanche Stephens, both of Tompkinsville; one brother-in-law, Rex (June) Gittings, of Tompkinsville; four nephews, Tim Stephens, of Texas, Clifford Stephens, of Tompkinsville, Melvin and Tommy Lindsey, both of Smiths Grove; two great-nieces, Chelsea and Courtney Stephens, of Tompkinsville. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys R. Lindsey and a brother, Kenneth M. Stephens.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

GLASGOW – Gerald Wayne “G.W. or G. Dub” Vincent, 21, of Glasgow, left this world to be with his Lord, Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.
He was born in Warren County, the son of Robert Vincent and Thresea Wilkerson.
He is survived by his mother, Thresea (Gary) Wilkerson, of Glasgow; his father, Robert (Lourdes) Vincent, of Bowling Green; a brother, Nathaniel (Taylor) Vincent, of Glasgow; maternal grandmother Betty (Melvin) Payne, of Glasgow; his maternal grandfather, Russell (Kathy) Spradlin, of Glasgow; paternal grandmother, Geraldine (Haskel) Vincent, of Bowling Green and several aunts, uncles and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Merry Oaks Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
