GLASGOW — Donavan Leon Bailey

TOMPKINSVILLE – Donavan Leon Bailey, 82, of Tompkinsville, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Monroe County Medical Center.

Donavan was born in Tompkinsville, on Nov. 21, 1930, a son of the late Ada (Page) and Wilbert L. Bailey. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and worked for General Motors until his retirement.

Donavan is survived by a daughter, Lenee Salmon, of Chantilly, Va., and four grandchildren.

Donavan is preceded in death by his parents, Ada (Page) and Wilbert L. Bailey; one son, Donavon Bedford Bailey; and one brother, Harold Bailey.

Funeral services will be at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, at 10 a.m. Thursday with Gary Hardin officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bailey Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Daniel, David, and Dan Salmon and Daryl Cress.

 

Max Byrd

HORSE CAVE – Max Byrd, 67, of Horse Cave, died Tuesday, Feb.19, 2013, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

 

Ervin W. Edmonds Jr.

GLASGOW – Ervin W. Edmonds Jr., 82, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees; he was United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Allie Edmonds; a daughter, Linda Buford; a brother, William Edmonds; and a sister; Dorothy Shelley.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Edmonds, of Glasgow; a grandson, Adrian Buford, of Bowling Green; three sisters, Roberta Foster of Indianapolis, Ind., Wanda Lee, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Liz, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister-in law, Minnie Jean Edmonds.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Glasgow with Dr. Michael Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the church. Watts & Percell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Flounish Elizabeth Bragg England

GLASGOW – Flounish Elizabeth Bragg England, 78, of Glasgow, died Monday, Feb.18, 2013, at Glasgow Health and Rehab Center.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elmer Jessie Sexton. Mrs. England was a homemaker and a member of Prices Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Larry (Anita) Bragg, of Glasgow and Wallace (Pat) Bragg and Timmy (Faye) Bragg, of Cave City; one daughter, Lorie Ann Brummett (Todd), of Terre Haute, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Henry Sexton, of Cave City; and one brother, Phillip Cokley Sexton, of Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lester L. Bragg and W. L. England; a brother, Hubert Sexton; and three sisters, Lucille Dickson, Vera Pedigo and Ocie Wilson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Moore Cemetery in Adair County. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Friday morning until service time.

Carroll C. Garrett

GLASGOW – Carroll C. Garrett, 71, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Glenview Healthcare in Glasgow.

He was born at Lamb, Ky., the son of the late Leo and Sarah Atkinson Garrett. Carroll owned and operated Carroll C. Garrett Construction and he was a U. S. Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Jenna Runyon (Steve), of Dry Fork, Tonya Ross (Marty), of Glasgow and Rhonda Tracy (Mark), of Fountain Run; five grandchildren, Keaton Runyon, Zachary and Zoie Ross and Melissa and Markayla Tracy; two brothers, Harold Garrett (Wilma), of Dry Fork and David Garrett (Evelyn), of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Kathleen Johnson, of Glasgow; an uncle Erbie Garrett (Nancy), of Hodgenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday.

Joe Donald McCorkle

MUNFORDVILLE – Joe Donald McCorkle, 72, of Munfordville, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late Chester Goodman McCorkle and the late Mittie Francis (Gossett) McCorkle.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa McCorkle.

Family will receive friends from 2  to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time for services Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville. Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Brother Ben Benningfield officiating. Burial will be at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery.



Ricky A. Richardson

LARGO, Fla. – Ricky A. Richardson, 55, of Largo, Fla., died Wednesday Feb. 13, 2013.

He was a former resident of Hardyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richarson Jr.(Skeeter) and Wanda June Martin Richardson.

Memorial services will be from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Fairview Church of Christ. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Visitation at Fairview Church of Christ from 1 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. Arrangements are by Winn Funeral Home of Horse Cave.

CUB RUN – Wyvon P. Cox, 85, of Cub Run, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the home of her son. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial in Berry Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Berry Cemetery c/o Ronnie Cox, P.O. Box 473, Cave City, Ky. 42127.



GREENFIELD, Ind. – Cleston F. Howard, age 79, of Greenfield, Ind., formerly of Monroe County, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



GLASGOW – Gary Wayne Martin, 67, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  



HORSE CAVE – Rose Rady, 84, of Horse Cave, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at her residence in Horse Cave. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Sunday, March 3, at Horse Cave Christian Church. The family has chosen cremation. Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville.
