Robbie Conkin

TOMPKINSVILLE – Robbie Conkin, 66, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born in Monroe County on March 8, 1941, and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Strode and Gladys Marie Bray Strode. Mrs. Conkin was a member of the Poplar Log Missionary Baptist Church and a nursing assistant at the Tompkinsville War Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include three sons: Timmy Hammer, Kevin Hammer and Martin Hammer, all of Tompkinsville; one daughter; Angie Ford of Cave City; two sisters: Marjorie Rush of Glasgow and Marie Hammer of Greenfield, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with Brother Paul Strong and Brother Rex Rush officiating. Burial will be in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

General Russell E. Dougherty

(USAF, Ret.)

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. – General Russell E. Dougherty (USAF, Ret.) died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, in Potomac Falls, Va. He was the beloved husband of Barbara B. Dougherty; devoted father of Diane Ralston, Col. Mark Dougherty (USAF, Ret.), Julia A. Lake, Diane Riordan and Julian S. Lake IV. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

General Dougherty was preceded in death by his first wife, Gerry Shaaber Dougherty, his son, Lt. Col Bryant Dougherty (USAF), and daughter, Clara Virginia Vadersen.

A funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.

Peggy Annette Ross

GLASGOW – Peggy Annette Ross, 59, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Benton Rigsby and Pauline Franklin Rigsby of Glasgow who survives. Mrs. Ross was a former employee of T.J. Samson Community Hospital and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Mike Ross of Glasgow; two sons: David Jones (Kim) of Bowling Green, and Corey Jones (P.J.) of Glasgow; a step-daughter: Tracie Ross of Nashville; two grandchildren: Marlee Jones of Bowling Green and Jacob Ross Jones of Glasgow; a sister, Patricia Dawn Cumbee, and a niece, Kaela Cumbee, both of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Roger Earl Pecor

EDMONTON – Roger Earl Pecor, 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at 9:15 p.m. at his residence in Edmonton.

He was born in Colchester, Vt., and was a son of the late George Pecor and Doris Hubbard Pecor. He was a heavy equipment operator for Larry Glass Construction in Glasgow.

There will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation was chosen. Burial will take place in Vermont at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea L. Dubray-Pecor of Edmonton; a daughter: Bonnie Goodbou and fiancee, Jeffrey Emmons of New Milford, Conn.; a son: Brett Goodbou of Cape Coral, Fla.; stepdaughters: Heidy Pelkey of Edmonton, Shannon Ruel of North Field, Vt., and Shelly Miller of Bristol, Vt.; a sister: Betty Pecor of Colchester, Vt.; a grandson: Austin Faber; step grandchildren: Mariah Schneider, Amber Pelkey, Ryan Pelkey, Phoenix Miller and Celest Chamberlin.

Arrangements are by J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels, Inc., Bowling Green.

James Michael ‘Mike’ Ray

GLASGOW – James Michael “Mike” Ray, 16, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at his residence.

Mike was born in Horse Cave, and was a sophomore at Barren County High School.

He is survived by his mother Teresa Ray and her fiancé, Allen Slinker, of Glasgow; his father, Steve Ray of Park City; a sister, Shelby Ray of Glasgow; maternal grandparents, Nick and Marilyn Nixon of Knob Lick; paternal grandmother, Ruby Ray of Park City; his maternal great-grandparents, Harrison and Jean Weaver of Brillion, Wis.; uncles, Chip Nixon and fiancée, Petra Strauss, of Michigan; Jim Nixon and fiancée, Angela Willoughby, of North Carolina, Leroy Ray and wife, Ellen, of Indiana, and Kenneth Ray and wife Melanie of Park City; aunts, Brenda Ray of Park City and Linda Adwell and husband Harold of Glasgow. Several other friends and relatives also survive.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Ray and his maternal great-grandmother Louise Nixon.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery at Park City. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Henry Moss Gossett

MUNFORDVILLE – Henry Moss Gossett, 80, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at his home. He was the son of the late Henry Thomas and Opal Mae Moss Gossett and husband of the late Dorothy Gossett.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in the Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sallie Gentry

GLASGOW – Sallie Gentry, 98, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at the NHC Health Care Facility in Glasgow.

Arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

BOWLING GREEN – Clyde B. Denton, 96, died at 11:40 p.m. at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial in the Bon Ayr Cemetery in Barren County. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Bon Ayr Cemetery Fund.

TOMPKINSVILLE – Judy Watson Goode died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in the Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

BOWLING GREEN – Ruth Ann Stone Holder, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery.

GLASGOW – John Henry Sartin, 78, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at the J.T. Crawford Hospital in Greensburg. Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with cremation to follow the service. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until time for services.

GLASGOW – Gerry Glenn Whitaker, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at the Barren County Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Gideons International, P.O.
