Wilma Jean Baker

SUMMER SHADE — Wilma Jean Baker, 82, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Glenview Health Care Center.

Born in Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Joe C. and Myrtle Withers Sims. Mrs. Baker was a retired cook for NHC Healthcare Center and member of the Westwood Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, George; one son: Hessel Baker (Linda) of Camner; two daughters: Sherry Free Johnson (Charles) of Glasgow and Gloria Kell (Leslie) of Franklin; eight grandchildren: Debra Outler (Ranzy), Dena Hagan (Chris), Stacy Johnson, Jennifer Dobson (Josh), Jessica Baker, Melissa Conley (Mike), Lindsey Bradstreet (Houstin) and Derek Kell; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wayne Sims of Munfordville, Joe Layne Sims and Jerry Sims, both of Gallatin, Tenn.; two sisters: Alma Jean Harvey of Darlington, Ind., and Daisy Gassaway of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Angela Michelle Baker.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Randolph. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the funeral home.

Marjory Pieblow

MOUNT STERLING — Marjory Pieblow, 66, died Monday, April 13, 2009 ,at her home in Mount Sterling.

Arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Georgie M. Pitcock

FAIRBURY, Ill. — Georgie M. Pitcock, 95, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.

Mrs. Pitcock was born in Glasgow, the daughter of Letcher and Bertie Ann Rigdon Houchens. She was the wife of the late Aelic Gordon Pitcock.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. today (Tuesday), at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, with burial in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Dominy Memorial Library, First Baptist Church or Fairview Haven Nursing Home, all of Fairbury, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.



Marvin W. Pedigo

GLASGOW — Marvin W. Pedigo, 77, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was the son of the late Clarence and Roxie Hurt Pedigo.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie Ruth Shockley Pedigo; one son: Jessie Pedigo and his wife Debra; two daughters: Linda Saltsman and her husband Jimmy and Rita Thomas; nine grandchildren: Scottie Saltsman, Tony Saltsman, Brian Pedigo, Kevin Pedigo, David Harrod, Steven Pedigo, Jeremy Thomas, Lori Posey and Christa Thomas; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother: Raymond Pedigo and his wife Linda; two sisters: Audrey Perkins and Helen Lawson and her husband Henry.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ray Pedigo and Vernon Pedigo; and one sister: Christine Medley.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

Margaret Nell Starr

GLASGOW — Margaret Nell Starr, 96, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was a Glasgow resident, the daughter of the late James Henry Perkins and Sally Ann Hunley Perkins and was born on April 4, 1913. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Starr Sr.; four sisters: Olean Wade, Nancy McKinney, Myrtle Tonkin and Mary Smith; three brothers: Ray Perkins, Paul Perkins and William Morris Perkins.

She was a retired merchant, having operated, along with her husband Frank, the Frank Starr Groceries for many years in Glasgow and Temple Hill. Most recently she has been associated with Phillips Paint and Paper Store of Glasgow and Electrolux Sales and Service. Nell has been a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church since April 10, 1952.

Survivors include two sons, Frank M. Starr Jr. and wife Linda of Jackson, Tenn., and John D. Starr of Glasgow. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mica Nell Starr of Jackson, Tenn., and Frank M. “Tripp” Starr III and wife Julie of Collinwood, Tenn.; two loving and faithful caregivers, Joan Sommerville and Vickie Wilson.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, and from 9 a.m. Thursday April 16, 2009, until time for service at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dr. Charles Stanley’s In Touch Ministries or the Glasgow Baptist Church.



James F. Wilcoxson

HORSE CAVE — James F. Wilcoxson, 91, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at his home.

He was the son of the late Sherman Wilcoxson and Elizabeth Johnston Wilcoxson. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ruth Bennett Wilcoxson of Horse Cave.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Winn Funeral Home Chapel, Horse Cave, with burial in Cosby Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

FOUNTAIN RUN — Sarah Ellis (Agers) Dismon, 93, born Oct. 14, 1915, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Glenview Health Care at Glasgow. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hughes Funeral Home, Fountain Run, with burial in Fountain Run Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Monday.



LAFAYETTE, Tenn. — Joe F. Hire, 90, a resident of Knollwood Manor, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Knollwood Manor. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, Lafayette, Tenn., with interment in Haysville Cemetery.



GLASGOW — George Fred Stilts, 66, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Glenview Christian Church Building Fund, 1403 Glenview Drive, Glasgow, KY 42141.
