James Grant Matthews
TEMPLE HILL — James Grant Matthews, 67, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at his home.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late William Jewell Matthews and Cordline Crow Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a farmer and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Shaw Matthews of Temple Hill; three daughters: Teresa Boone (Keyvon), Melissa Buckley (Steve) and Sherry Carver (Robert), all of Glasgow; two sons: Allen Matthews (Robin) of Merry Oaks and Randall Matthews (Toni) of Glasgow; 10 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step great-grandchild; two brothers: Lonnie Matthews (Pat) of Glasgow and Rondall Matthews (Dawn) of Fountain Run; two sisters: Reba Ward of Glasgow and Mary Nell Driver of Lafayette, Tenn.; Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson: Colten James Matthews; three brothers: Arnold, Sewell and Stanley Matthews; two sisters: Elsie Shoopman and Lera Mae Noble; two nephews: Bradley Jewell and Bernice Jewell Matthews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday. April 20, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery.

Anna L. Arnold
OWENSBORO — Anna L. Arnold, 84, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Bon Harbor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was the daughter of the late Campbell and Georgia Miller and wife of the late Herman Arnold. He is survived locally by a brother, Jerry Miller.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro, with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today (Monday) and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

GLASGOW — James O. Goad, 97, died Monday morning, April 20, 2009, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.

EL PASO, Texas — James Howard Allen, 87, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. A memorial gathering of friends and family, organized by Jenny Morrison, sister-in-law, and Jennie Young, niece, will be Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at New Salem United Methodist Church, 1307 New Salem Road, Glasgow.
BOWLING GREEN – Donna K. “Katie” Cooke, 51, of Smiths Grove, died Friday, April 17, 1009, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakland-Mount Zion Baptist Church with burial in Plainview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardy & Son Funeral Home Inc.
BURKESVILLE — Warren Parker, 67, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Cumberland County Hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Community Full Gospel Church in Albany with burial in the Smith Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home of Burkesville is in charge of funeral arrangements.
FOUNTAIN RUN — Elmer Eugene “Gene” Wheet, 78, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Burial will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation continues today (Monday) until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
