Gladys M. Reed

GLASGOW — Gladys M. Reed, 95, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Reed was born in Metcalfe County, the daughter of the late George Henry and Ettie Bell Knipp Moran of Metcalfe County. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Truman F. Reed. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Terry Reed and wife Margie of Glasgow and Jerry Reed and wife Barbara of Glasgow; five grandchildren: Christopher Reed and wife Carla, Candy Reed-Browning, Jeffrey Reed and wife Jeanie Reed all of Glasgow, Kathy Reed-Logsdon of Lexington and Lindsey Reed of Jeffersonville, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren: Adam Tenney, Aurea Logsdon, Madison, Brandon, Gracie and Brooklyn Reed, Hunter and Keeper Browning; and a special niece, Lisa Bradley York and husband Rad of Franklin, Tenn.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Mann Cemetery in Metcalfe County. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Edwin E. Saczynski

GLASGOW — Edwin E. Saczynski, beloved father, born on Oct. 19, 1926, in Buffalo, New York, died on April 18, 2009, in Glasgow.

He is survived by his daughters: Mary Rippen, Paula Collis and Carol Eaton; his grandchildren: Christopher Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Sophie Collis and Benjamin Eaton; and his wife, Martha Inns.

He is a veteran of the Korean War, 101st Airborne Division — United States Army. Ed worked for the city of San Jose, Calif., Department of Public Works. He was an engineering technician in the Design and Construction Division. His last major project was the construction of San Jose International Airport. He retired in 1992 and relocated to Munfordville. He purchased a beautiful piece of property in gentile Kentucky. His vision was to own land and build a home for his family. Our father will be remembered most for supporting everything we did: education, career, family and our individual interests. He will be missed very much.

Mr. Saczynski chose cremation. His ashes will be sent to California where they will remain with the family. Arrangements entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Glasgow.

Gertie Marie Shockley

EDMONTON — Gertie Marie Shockley, 90, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by two sons: Donald (Mary) Shockley of Edmonton, David (Brenda) Shockley of Glasgow; one daughter: Betty (Allen Wallace) Hurt of Edmonton; 12 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mattie Taylor Coffey; husband, Eugene Shockley; two brothers, Howard and Kennith W. Coffey; and two sisters, Mable James and Dorothy Bryant.

Ross Milo Trayer II

EDMONTON — Ross Milo Trayer II, 37, died Sunday in Edmonton.

He was the son of the late Ross Trayer and Becky Kellem. He was an employee of Save-A-Lot in Edmonton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Dire Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Trayer of Edmonton, two sons: Ronald Gene Taylor Jr. of Betsy Lane, Shayne Milo Trayer of Michigan; four daughters: Dawne Marie Rickard of Tennessee, Teresa Dire of Edmonton, Judy Hale of Russell Springs, Crystal Blakley of Tompkinsville; grandmother: Laverne Kellem of California; two brothers: James Rogers and William Jacye both of Kansaas; two sisters: Ordella Jacye of New Mexico, Cherah Trayer of Michigan; and 16 grandchildren also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross Milo Sr. and Becky Kellum Trayer; paternal grandparents, Curtis W. and Mary Elizabeth Trayer; and one grandchild, Jerry Dale Woodcock.
