Frances Wilson Goodman Duff

HORSE CAVE — Frances Wilson Goodman Duff, 88, died on May 2, 2009, at Hart County Health Care.

She was born on July 29, 1920, in Dry Fork, the daughter of the late Riley Wilson Goodman and Eva Lewis Goodman. She was the wife of the late Roger E. Duff of Hiseville. She was a member of Hiseville Christian Church and a graduate of Temple Hill High School. She was a homemaker, gardener and an employee of Kentucky Pants Co. for over 40 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Rose (Jerry) Polson of Cave City; a son, Bobby (Sandy) Duff of Glasgow; three grandsons: Frank Trevor Polson of Cave City, Bradley Goodman Duff and Joshua Ryan Duff, both of Glasgow; and their mother, Peggy E. Duff; a brother, Jacob D. (Colleen) Goodman of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Goodman of Bowling Green, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Lewis Goodman, Bryan Goodman, Jimmie Goodman, Paul Goodman, Sewell Goodman; and sisters, Elizabeth G. Taylor, Maggie Morrison, Kathleen Thomerson and Mary Jane Goodman.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at the funeral home.

Celia Beck Holder

CAVE CITY — Celia Beck Holder, 84, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at the University of Louisville Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Riley Beck and Kate Bird Beck. Survivors include her husband, Carl Othel Holder of Cave City.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Cave City cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Monday), and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Joyce Marie Martin

ROCKFIELD — Joyce Marie Martin, 58, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew John Lutheran and Madeline Killian Lutheran.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. No visitation is scheduled.

Hardy & Son Funeral Homes Inc., is in charge of arrangements.



Betty Jo White Meredith

PARK CITY — Betty Jo White Meredith, 73, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Lynn Turner and Mamie Turner.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, May 6, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel, with burial in Doyle Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, May 6, at the funeral home.



Dale Stuart Mobley

HARDYVILLE — Dale Stuart Mobley, 50, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at his home.

Dale was born in Elizabethtown on Sept. 6, 1958. He spent his summers in Hardyville with his grandparents, Walter and Francis McKinney, helping on the farm. In 1977 his parent moved to the Hart-Barren County area and at the age of 19 he joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed on the USS Coral Sea CV-43. Dale was initiated into the King Neptunes World by going through the Shellback Initiation twice. The crew twice earned Meritorious Unit Commendations, an Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Sea Service Commen-dation. He separated from service with an honorable discharge in Alameda, Calif., in 1984 and remained in the California Bay area to work. Dale and his wife Barbara returned to Kentucky in 2001 to assist the running of the McKinney Family Farm after the passing of his mother. Dale was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Hart County Cattlemans Association, an avid fisher, coin collector and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1982.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years: Barbara Cantu Mobley of Hardyville; his father: Shelby Mobley of Hardyville; a brother: David (Sherice) Mobley of Horse Cave; a niece: Lauren Quinn Armstrong of Louisville; one daughter: Cecilia Martinez-Perez of Milpitas, Calif.; grandchildren: Christopher Perez and Alyssa Perez of Milpitas, Calif.; cousin: Kathy (Bill) Freeman, aunt Juanita Rickett, aunt Anne (Richard) Elam and uncle Edward (Mary Lou) Mobley, all of Elizabethtown; and lifelong friends, Danny (Patricia) Atwell, good friends, Willie (Jan) Doyle of Hardyville, cousin-in-law, Rebecca (James) Brown of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and their son, Andrew (Erin) Brown of Pohnpei, Micronesia, and additional relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Margie McKinney Mobley; sister, Valerie Armstrong; maternal grandparents, Walter and Francis McKinney; fraternal grandparents, Edward and Daisy Mobley; great-uncles, Arvin (Maggie) McKinney, Paul McKinney, Roscoe (Maxine) McKinney, and great-aunts, Annie (Carl) Lockett, Lela (Nat) Branstetter, all of Hardyville.

Celebration of life will be at Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at noon. Remains will be scattered to the four winds in a private ceremony on his Grandpa Walter’s farm with a memorial marker placed at Cosby Cemetery. Visiting begins 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Winn Funeral Home.

Dorothy Ramsey

TOMPKINSVILLE — Dorothy Ramsey, 89, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

The daughter of the late Anderson Tilman Smith and Mary Lois Roberts Smith, she was born in Sweet Water, Tenn., on Oct. 21, 1919. She was a member of First Baptist Church and wife of the late W.J. Ramsey, whom she married on May 30, 1936, in Dalton, Ga.

She is survived by five sons: Ronald Ramsey, John N. Ramsey and George A. Ramsey, all of Glasgow, Jerry Ramsey of Valdosta, Ga., and Tommy E. Ramsey of Spartanburg, S.C.; one daughter: Betty Carol Ford of Tompkinsville; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy B. Ramsey; one daughter, Dorothy Ann Ramsey; and two brothers, George L. Smith and Fred Smith.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with Brother Tom Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Skaggs Creek Cemetery Upkeep Fund.



Ted Walden

TOMPKINSVILLE — Ted Walden, 62, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Monroe County Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 3, 1946, in Monroe County, the son of the late Herbert Doyle Walden and Avo Francis Walden of Tompkinsville, who survives. He was an employee of Froedge Machine & Supply since August 1991 and a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church.

He is also survived by his wife, Nelda Wood Walden, whom he married on Dec. 12, 1946, at the home of Brother Garnett Martin; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Michael Watson of Tompkinsville; grandchildren: Matthew Watson, Joshua Watson and Sydney Watson, all of Tompkinsville.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lavonne Walden.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with Brother Wendell Froedge and Brother Benji Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. Visitation is today (Monday) after 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Fannie Moon Lawrence, 101, formerly of Barren County, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.F. Crow & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Shiloh Church Cemetery at Railton. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 656 Pritchardsville Road, Glasgow, KY 42141, or to T.J. Samson Hospice, 1325 N. Race St., Glasgow, KY 42141, or to the charity of your choice.



BOWLING GREEN — Kay Donald Madison, 73, of Bowling Green, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy and Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
