Oma Lugene Bailey

GLASGOW — Oma Lugene Bailey, 90, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Summer Shade, she was the daughter of the late Radford Bartley and Rosetta Crabtree Bartley and wife of the late Edwin Bailey. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the First Church of God in Glasgow.

Survivors include a son: Jimmy E. Bailey (Maxine) of Glasgow; a daughter: Martha Lou Simms of Louisville; four grandchildren: Teresa Mode (Dennis) of Texas, Tracy Nations (Brad) of Louisville, Jeremy Napier (Tinisha) of Austin, and Tara Bailey of Glasgow; nine great-grandchildren: Christina and Ashley Mode, Lucas and Bailey Hill, Jason, Justin and Jennifer Simms, Sierra Napier and Taryn Hicks; and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Olene Matthews (Clifton) of Glasgow; a brother: Turner Bartley (Joann) of Summer Shade; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Simms; a son-in-law, Mitchell Simms; a brother, Otha Bartley; and two sisters, Opal Jordan and Nell Sampson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



Tempest E. England

GLASGOW — Tempest Estes England, 81, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Moat and Grace Compton Estes. She was a retired LPN. She worked at Howard Clinic from the mid 1950s until its closing, at which time she became an avid volunteer with the Ladies Auxillary at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Survivors include one son: Gary Blaine England and his wife, Kathleen W. England, of Glasgow; three grandsons: Jarred Blaine England, Dylan Edwin England and Gary Alexander England; her sister-in-law: Sheila Estes; one nephew: Steve Estes; one niece: Glenda Harris; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and one great-great niece.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles Allen ‘Chuck’ Ezell

GLASGOW — Charles Allen “Chuck” Ezell, 64, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Hubert Ezell and Mae Martin Parker. He was a Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; 10 children: Allen Ezell of Detroit, Mich., Connie Deforest of Memphis, Tenn., Jeffrey Ezell of Flint, Mich., John Ezell and his wife Barbara of Flint, Mich., Daniel Ezell of Dickson, Tenn., “serving in Iraq,” Samantha Ezell of Dickson, Tenn., Stephanie Barnes and her husband Jason of Michigan, Charlie Ezell of Glasgow, Rachel Cross and her husband David of Glasgow and Taylor Ezell; three brothers: Wayne Ezell and his wife Joann of Bon Aqua, Tenn., Don Ezell and his wife Bonnie of Bon Aqua, Tenn., and Jack Ezell and his wife Rheda of Tennessee; three sisters: Shirley Roden of Dickson, Tenn., Reva Robertson of Louisville, and Nancy McLane of Detroit Mich.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Faith United Baptist Church in Oakland with Brother Lenny Hogan officiating. Visitation will be at the church after 3 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Hays Cemetery. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Ray Garmon

GLASGOW — Louise Ray Garmon, 68, of Glasgow, died May 6, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born Feb. 2, 1941, in Metcalfe County, the daughter of the late Chester Edward Garrett and Leether Edith Parrigin Garrett. Louise was retired from Dana Corporation in Glasgow.

Surviving are son, Tony (Sara) Garmon of Edmonton; brother, Wilbert Garrett of Center; sister, Geneva (Charles) Bennett of Glasgow; sisters: Hazel Garrett of Edmonton, and Shirley Dowell of Sulphur Well; two grandsons: Jason Garmon of Edmonton and Brian Garmon of Elizabethtown; granddaughter: Brandy Garmon of Summer Shade; great- granddaughters: Lana and Lilyanna Garmon of Elizabethtown; great grandson: Jordon Garmon of Summer Shade; step great-grandchildren, Logan and Lydia Skaggs of Elizabethtown. One niece and several nephews also survive.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Lee Garmon; and one sister, Jeanette Compton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Moore Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Lee Oren Keltner

EDMONTON — Lee Oren Keltner, 86, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Metcalfe Health Care.

He was the son of the late Will and Cleo Sullivan Keltner. Survivors include his wife, Louise Coleman Keltner.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



Ruble Jewell Manley

OAKLAND — Ruble Jewell Manley, 87, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late Silas Manley and Nellie Lawrence Manley.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.



Alma Lucille Matthews

EDMONTON — Alma Lucille Matthews, 87, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Otha and Magnolia Runyon Bennett. She was a homemaker and widow of James Robert Matthews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She is survived by three sons: Charles Wayne (Brenda) Matthews of Edmonton, James (Rebecca) Matthews of Glasgow and Richard (Mary) Matthews of Edmonton; one daughter: Donna (Charles) Hutton of Knob Lick; 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren also survive.

Annie Leoma Spillman

GLASGOW — Annie Leoma Spillman, 87, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her residence.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Page Ellis and Roxie Houchens Ellis. Mrs. Spillman was a member of Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Harry Leonard Spillman of Glasgow; four daughters: Martha Shirley (Larry), Dottye Proffitt (Tommy), Susan Elmore (Richard) and Kathy Wiley (David), all of Glasgow; a son: David Spillman of Glasgow; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Ruby Ellis of Etoile and Violet Spillman of Glasgow; a brother-in-law: Hayward Spillman Jr. of Etoile; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Edna Earl Hurt; and a brother, Willie Bryant Ellis.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today (Friday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Pernie Ever Taylor

GLASGOW — Pernie Ever Taylor, 97, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the NHC Nursing Facility.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Coffey and Mattie Johnson Coffey.

She is survived by one daughter: Edith Page; one grandson: Larry Page and Marilyn; one niece: Connie Cooper; one nephew: Richey Coffey and wife Betty.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Taylor; one grandson: Kenneth Lee Page; one brother: Harry Coffey; two sisters: Marie Green and Elsie Loden; one son-in-law: Fred Page; and one niece Carolyn McCoy.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Rev. Timothy S. Chamberlain, 87, formerly of Munfordville, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at his residence in Nashville. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Munfordville United Methodist Church with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be from noon until time of the service on Saturday at the church.



BONNIEVILLE — Estelle Clark passed away Wednesday at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Campground United Methodist Church with burial in Sonora Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Friday) from 3 to 8 p.m. at Sego Funeral Home and on Saturday after 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Campground United Methodist Church.



GLASGOW — Vera Louise Cunningham, 80, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the NHC Healthcare Facility. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home.



CAVE CITY — Presley Monroe Jr., 77, died at his home on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Penns Chapel Church of Christ, Bowling Green, with burial in Penns Chapel Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Matt Monroe Memorial Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 1316, Glasgow, KY.



MUNFORDVILLE — Susanne Wintsch, 68, died May 1, 2009, following complications with cancer at Harden Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be in Munfordville on Saturday. There will first be a gathering of family and friends at the Presbyterian Fellowship House, 204 Union St., near the church, between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:45 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Union Street. Interment will follow at Timberlake Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Susanne to the Horse Cave Repertory Theatre or the Hart County Library.
