Robert Steven Eaton

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Robert Steven Eaton, 26, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, in Jefferson County.

He was the son of Ellen Thomason, Cave City, who survives.

The family chose cremation, therefore there will be no visitation. A graveside memorial service, under the direction of Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Cave City Cemetery.



Joyce Hiser

BOWLING GREEN — Joyce Hiser, 65, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Bowling Green Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.



Marion Hoofnel

GLASGOW — Marion Hoofnel, 81, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at her residence.

She was the daughter of Thomas and Mamie Lyle and wife of the late William Hoofnel Jr.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Heritage Funeral Home in Bowling Green with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Monday) and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.



Hallie Mae Meredith

MUNFORDVILLE — Hallie Mae Meredith, 70, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late George William Esters and Hallie Lucy Sturgeon Esters. Survivors include her husband, Paul.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville with burial in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



J.T. (Tommy) Scroggy

SULPHUR WELL — J.T. (Tommy) Scroggy, 65, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Garnett and Violet Neal Scroggy. He was a farmer and member of Sulphur Well Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Smith Cemetery at Sulphur Well.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Bunch Scroggy; one son: Todd (Geneva) Scroggy of Edmonton; two daughters: Shane (Mike) Coffey and Dawn (Fred) Harbison, all of Sulphur Well; one sister: Rebecca (Carl) Forrest of Glasgow: seven grandchildren: Kristy Coffey, David Coffey, Hunter Scoggy, Hayden Scroggy, Kennedy Harbison, Tucker Scroggy and Kaylee Harbison; one neice: Pam (Freddie) Bulle of Glasgow; and one great-nephew: Kent Bulle of Glasgow.

GLASGOW — Amy Lucille Shockley, 88, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

Randall Shane Spears

HESTAND— Randall Shane Spears, 36, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his home in Hestand.

Survivors include his parents, Randall and Judy Walden Spears of Hestand; and his wife, Melissa Smith Spears of Hestand.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Bailey Cemetery.



John Lee Tobin

GLASGOW — John Lee Tobin, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late James and Josephine Meek Tobin. Mr. Tobin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired farmer and school bus driver for the Barren County School Systems for 26 years and a member of First General Baptist Church of Glasgow where he served as a deacon for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Williams Tobin; three sons: David Tobin and special friend Angela of Glasgow, Donald Tobin and wife Kaye of Glasgow and Dennis Tobin and wife Teresa of Edmonton; two grandchildren: Latisha Milby and Jill Milby of Edmonton; and one great-grandchild: Dagyn Milby; along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jeffrey David Tobin and Donna Kaye Tobin; seven brothers: George, Wesley, Hardin, Iner, Joe, Leonard and James Tobin; and one sister: Josephine Spencer.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home.

Docie Ellen Wheat

GLASGOW – Docia Ellen Wheat, 85, of Glasgow, died Saturday, May 10, 2009, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleve and Effie York Emmitt and the wife of the late Herman Lee Wheat. Mrs. Wheat was a homemaker and member of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons: Billy Wheat (Betty Mae) of Cave City, Rondal Paul Wheat (Sandra Gayle) of Nashville, Tenn., and Marcell Wheat (Lisa) of Hiseville; one daughter: Bernell Farley (Kay) of Glasgow; one adopted son, John W. Bradley of Glasgow; a special daughter-in-law: Debbie Bunch of Glasgow; two sisters: Ethel Wooten and Effie Emmitt, both of Glasgow; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight children: Roger Gail Wheat, Charles Lee Wheat, Herman Eugene Wheat, Eddie Rollin Wheat, Robert Lee Wheat, Olla Mae Wheat, Ruth Wheat and Barbara Ann Wheat; one sister: Betty Hagan; and three brothers: William, Lawrence and Leonard Emmitt.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Clack-Emmitt Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the funeral home.

John Russell Wyatt

GLASGOW — John Russell Wyatt, 78, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.

Born in Jefferson County, he was the son of the late James Walter and Viola Katherine Melton Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt was a farmer and member of the Church of God in Louisville and attended Salem Baptist Church in Cave City.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Poole Wyatt; four daughters: Mary Stephens (Lynn) of Glasgow, Darlene Neal (Mike) of Glasgow, Sarah Clark of Glasgow and Shelby Sherfey (Timmy) of Glasgow; two sons: John Wyatt, II (Lisa) of Smiths Grove, and Daniel Wyatt (Trisha) of Glasgow; one brother: Herbert Wyatt of Oldham County; two sisters: Grace Hancock of Oldham County and Chris House of Louisville; one half sister: Inis Brewster of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Danny Clark; two brothers: Millard and Odell Wyatt; one sister: Kathleen Wyatt.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at the funeral home.

GLASGOW — Oma Lugene Bailey, 90, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



LOUISVILLE — Lori Mattingly Shaw, 44, passed away on May 5, 2009, in Monterey, Calif., where she and her family were living while her husband Lt. Col. Jerry L. Shaw was serving a temporary activation in the United States Army Reserves. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. EDT at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg on Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. EDT and after 9:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday. Memorial contributions are requested to: Home of the Innocents or St. Joseph Orphanage.
