Robert Steven Eaton

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Robert Steven Eaton, 55, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, in Jefferson County.

He was the son of Ellen Thomason, Cave City, and Joe Eaton of Louisville, who survive.

He is also survived by five brothers: Al Eaton and his wife Sherry of Louisville and Joe Eaton Jr. of Louisville, Paul Eaton of Louisville, Dave Eaton and his wife Cheryl of Albuquerque, N.M., Chuck Thomason and his wife Debbie of Cave City; four sisters: Linda Burgess and her husband Mike of Horse Cave, Tracy Adams of Cave City, Kathy Pardue and her husband Larry of Louisville and Jo Ann Barnett and her husband Jamie of Louisville.

Steve was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Eaton.

The family chose cremation, therefore there will be no visitation. A graveside memorial service, under the direction of Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Cave City Cemetery.

David Dismas Freeman

BOWLING GREEN — David Dismas Freeman, 45, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky.

He was the son of the late David Freeman and Betty Renslow Freeman of Bowling Green, who survives. Survivors also include his wife, Shannon Jeffers Freeman of Bowling Green.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.

Hardy & Son Funeral Homes Inc. is in charge of arrangements.



Joyce Lucille Hiser

BOWLING GREEN — Joyce Lucille Hiser, 65, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at The Bowling Green Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Zena Mae Browning Cilley.

She is survived by her husband: Sherman Hiser; one son: William Wayne Hiser; one step-son: Michael Earl Hiser; three step-daughters: Shelia Ciar-lante, Sharon Edmondson and Margaret White; two sisters: Charlene Mates and Vicki Pearce. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Sue Cilley; and one step-son: Roger Allen Hiser.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiser Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Frank ‘Hulio’ Larimore

BONNIEVILLE — Frank “Hulio” Larimore, 56, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was the son of Ruth Rogers Larimore of Hodgenville and the late William Larimore. He is also survived by his wife, Vickie Alsip Larimore.

Graveside services will be at the Larimore Family Cemetery in Munfordville, today (Tuesday) at 5 p.m. Visitation will be at the Larimore family residence, 1599 Broadford Road, Munfordville, today from 3 to 5 p.m.

Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, is in charge of arrangements.



J.T. (Tommy) Scroggy

SULPHUR WELL — J.T. (Tommy) Scroggy, 65, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Garnett and Violet Neal Scroggy. He was a farmer and member of Sulphur Well Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Smith Cemetery at Sulphur Well.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Bunch Scroggy; one son: Todd (Geneva) Scroggy of Edmonton; two daughters: Shane (Mike) Coffey and Dawn (Fred) Harbison, all of Sulphur Well; one sister: Rebecca (Carl) Forrest of Glasgow: seven grandchildren: Kristy Coffey, David Coffey, Hunter Scoggy, Hayden Scroggy, Kennedy Harbison, Tucker Scroggy and Kaylee Harbison; one niece: Pam (Freddie) Bulle of Glasgow; and one great-nephew: Kent Bulle of Glasgow.

Lori Mattingly Shaw

LOUISVILLE – Lori Mattingly Shaw, 44, of Louisville, passed away on May 5, 2009, in Monterey, Calif., where she and her family were living while her husband Lt. Col. Jerry L. Shaw was serving a temporary activation in the United States Army Reserves.

Lori was born in Lexing-ton on March 30, 1965. She was a graduate of Breckin-ridge County High School, received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Kentucky University and earned a master’s degree in Education from the Univer-sity of Louisville. She taught school for 12 years at St. Gabriel Catholic School in Louisville.

She retired temporarily from teaching in 1998 to pursue a career as a stay-at-home mom to her daughters, a job she passionately loved. Lori was a very gregarious and happy person, never met a stranger and made lasting friendships wherever she lived. She cared about people and was always giving of herself to help others.

Even in death, Lori showed her care and concern for others by donating her organs to be used so others could live and see. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she volunteered her time and talent for the school.

Lori is survived by her husband: Lt. Col. Jerry Shaw, and her beautiful daughters: Susan and Lillie Shaw of Louisville; her parents: Mack and Dolores Mattingly of Hardinsburg; her mother-in-law: Joyce Shaw of Glasgow; her sister and brother-in-law: Stacey and Jim Olivia of Louisville; brother and sister-in-law: Kevin and Adair Mattingly of Lexington; and brother-in-law: Jimmy Shaw of Springfield, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Mattingly; and her father-in-law, Philip Shaw of Glasgow.

Lori was a special aunt affectionately know as “Ori” to Alex, Austin and Taylor Olivia, Sam, Luke and Gabe Mattingly. She touched their lives in so many ways.

A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 12 p.m. EDT at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg on Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. EDT and after 9:30 a.m.EDT Wednesday.

Amy Lucille Shockley

GLASGOW — Amy Lucille Shockley, 88, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Dora Williams Tinsley and wife of the late Ora Shockley. Mrs. Shockley was a homemaker and caregiver for the elderly and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Lamb.

Survivors include two sons: David Shockley (Magdalene) of Glasgow, Doyle Shockley (Linda) of St. Charles Mo.; one grandchild: Scott Shockley (Missy) of St Charles, Mo.; one step grandchild: Darrell Gilley of Glasgow; two great-grandchildren: Trevor and Tyler Shockley; one sister Christine Wells of Horse Cave.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: Edith Brooks; two brothers: Amos Tinsley and Jerry Tinsley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shockley will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral home and Wednesday after 1 p.m. until time for services at the church.

SCOTTSVILLE — Ricky Leonard Thomas, 49, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at his home.

Emily (Mimi) Stark Veluzat

HORSE CAVE — Emily (Mimi) Stark Veluzat passed away at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Hart County Health Care Center.

She was a Hart County native, homemaker and a retired beautician. She loved her family, pets and the outdoors. She especially loved the beach.

Survivors include a sister: Doris Veluzat Whitehouse of Indiana; three nieces: Cindy Downs and Cathy Durham, both of Indiana, and Mary Beth Whitehouse of Florida; a lifetime companion: Thomas Mathis of Horse Cave; several great-nieces, great-nephews, many close cousins and friends; and special friend: Helen Mires.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Clara Monroe Veluzat.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cecil D. Williams

GLASGOW — Cecil D. Williams, 87, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Burkesville, the son of the late Stanley and Rosie McFarland Williams and husband of the late Lille Mae Gunnels Williams. Mr. Willliams was a farmer and a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater. In addition to his farming, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and hunting.

He is survived by a daughter: Jessie Mae Gass and husband Steve of Glasgow; a granddaughter: Jennifer Gass and her dog Charlie of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a brother: Stanley Earl Williams of Temple Hill; two sisters: Letha Jane Godsea of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Nellie Broady of Scottsburg, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Lester and Russell Williams; and two sisters: Ruby Glackman and Dora Wiley.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
