Kathleen M. Chambers

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Kathleen M. Chambers, 83, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Glasgow on Nov. 2, 1926, the daughter of the late Venus and Goldie Medley James and wife of Samuel J. Chambers, whom she married on Aug. 6, 1945, in Glasgow. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1996.

She was retired from Columbus Sportswear after several years as a seamstress. Her husband was an evangelist and they were members of Midway Assembly of God, Disabled American Veterans and VFW. She loved to sew, making her family’s clothes and Halloween costumes. She took great pride in her home and loved her flowers.

Survivors include daughters: Sammie Lark of Columbus, Ind., Linda Murray of Austin, Kay White of Columbus, Ind., and Donna Burton of Columbus, Ind.; brothers: Bobby James of Columbus, Ind., Wendell James of Seymour, Ind., Billy Joe James of Glasgow, Donnie James of Cave City, and Albert James of Bowling Green; sisters: Nola Duckworth of Glasgow and Betty Miller of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters: Lougene Clark, Magaline Elmore and Dorothy Estes; a son-in-law: Eldon Murray; and a grandson: Vaughn Murray.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street in Columbus, Ind., officiated by Pastor Virl L. Murray. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Virginia Jean Rountree

CHALYBEATE — Virginia Jean Rountree, 57, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Cardwell and Jewell Cardwell. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Rountree, of Chalybeate.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel, with burial in Hawkins Cemetery. Visitation is 5 until 9 p.m. today (Thursday), 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.



Lindsey Thomas Jones

MADISON, Tenn. — Lindsey Thomas Jones, 78, died on Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Madison, Tenn.

He was a former resident of Barren and Warren counties. He was born Aug. 19, 1930, the son of the late Levi Leonard and Ina C. Norman Jones.

He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired employee from Cutler Hammer (Eaton).

Survivors include his wife, Vanita Jones; a daughter: Stephanie J. Fox and her husband, Randy, of Nashville, Tenn.; a son: Darren Jones and his wife, Kim, of Bowling Green; two grandsons: Jerrod Jones and Justin Jones of Bowling Green; three sisters: Clorine J. Lawson of Glasgow, Susan J. Cox of Lexington and Lou Alice J. Witty of Bowling Green; nine nieces, six nephews and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins survive.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Iona J. Murray; a brother, Leonard Edwin Jones; and three brothers-in-law: Bob Murray, Bobby Lawson and Henry Cox.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Cremation was chosen.

EDMONTON — Pearl Estes, 69, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Sky Rehab Hospital in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in White Cemetery.



EDMONTON — Robert Logan Deweese Taylor, 14, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Thursday) and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.



BOWLING GREEN — Beulah M. Anderson, 74, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at her residence. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels Inc., Broadway Chapel, Bowling Green. Burial will be private at a later date. Beulah requested to be cremated. Friends may call on the family after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
