Katherine G. Spears

EIGHTY EIGHT — Katherine G. Spears, 83, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.

She was born in Bowling Green, the daughter of the late Manuel Leo Gentry and Luary Nunnally Gentry. Her husband was the late Ralph Wesley Spears. Mrs. Spears was a nurse, formerly employed at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Howard Clinic and for Dr. Robert McKinley. She was a member of Boyds Creek United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Danny Spears and wife, Sandra, and Dennis Spears and wife, Patricia, of Eighty Eight; two grandsons: Joshua and Wesley Spears of Eighty Eight; two sisters-in-law: Fay Ray (Max) of Gamaliel and Mary Melton of Louisville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Refuge Cemetery at Eighty Eight. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home.

Stanley A. Wilkinson

GLASGOW — Stanley A. Wilkinson, 78, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

He was born in Barren County, the son of the late Lee Alexander Wilkinson and Lou Addie Piercy Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was a 1949 graduate of Glasgow High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the senior executive vice president of Citizens National Bank and Trust Co. which later became Transfinancial Bank and now US Bank. After 38 years of service, he retired from Transfinancial Bank in 1987 and continued to serve on their board of directors until 1998. He was also the owner and operator of Barren River State Park Marina from 1984-92. Stanley was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church, Glasgow Lions Club and served as a councilman for Glasgow City Council and was a former Barren County treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter: Sheryl Wilkinson of Glasgow; a son: Randy Wilkinson and his wife, Yvonne, of Glasgow; two grandchildren: Kristen Haley and Kole Wilkinson of Glasgow; one sister: Opal Huffman and husband, Jess, of Clarksville, Ind.; nephews: Gary Broady and wife, Gail, of Franklin, and Mike Huffman and wife, Sherry, of Hebron; nieces: Jessica Conner and husband, Jerry, of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Joy Carpenter and husband, Craig, of Sellersberg, Ind.; and several great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his caregivers: Kathy Morris, Jonathan Minor and Valerie Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Wilkinson (Frauline); a sister, Addie Broady (Lawrence); and two nephews, Leland and Jimmy Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:30 until 8 p.m. and continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time for the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to Glasgow Baptist Church, 401 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141; or Glasgow High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 1012, Glasgow, KY 42142-1012.

Cecil Lanford Martin

GLASGOW — Cecil Lanford Martin, 75, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Corine Martin; one daughter, Vanessa Abidoye; and one grandson, Cecil J. Abidoye.

Arrangements are incomplete, but under the direction of Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.



Wayne E. ‘Rut’ Rutledge

WATSEKE, Ill. — Wayne E. “Rut” Rutledge, 67, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Irquois Memorial Hospital in Watseke, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Cannon Rutledge of Tompkinsville.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by DAV Glasgow Chapter No. 20. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the funeral home.



SERVICES

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Kathleen M. Chambers, 83, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street in Columbus, Ind., with burial in Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today (Friday) and from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.



CHALYBEATE — Virginia Jean Rountree, 57, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel, with burial in Hawkins Cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Friday), and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.



EDMONTON — Robert Logan Deweese Taylor, 14, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Thursday) and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
