Harry Leonard Spillman

GLASGOW — Harry Leonard Spillman, 91, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Allen County, the son of the late Hayward and Golda Johnson Spillman. Recently on May 6, 2009, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Anna Leoma Spillman. Mr. Spillman was a U.S. Navy Sea Bee during World War II. He was a farmer and a member of the Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 57 years.

Survivors include four daughters: Martha Shirley (Larry), Dottye Proffitt (Tommy), Susan Elmore (Richard) and Kathy Wiley (David), all of Glasgow; one son: David Spillman of Glasgow; one brother: Hayward Spillman Jr. of Etoile; two sisters-in-law: Violet Spillman of Glasgow and Ruby Ellis of Etoile; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Drewey, Willard and Ellsworth Spillman; and six sisters: Flora Mae Chambers, Isabelle Bales, Pauline Vaughn, Anna Underhill, Violet Stephens and Mary Belle Spillman.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Louise K. Harris

GLASGOW — Louise K. Harris, 93, a former Bowling Green resident, died Wednesday night, June 3, 2009, at Barren County Health Care Facility.

She was the mother of Sandra Welborn of Glasgow and Randy Harris of Louisville, Tenn.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Edna Woodson Ross Smith

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Edna Woodson Ross Smith, 81, died Saturday, May 30, 2009.

Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in Dixon Cemetery, Horse Cave. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.



Anna L. Stark

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Anna LaVecce Stark, 79, died Friday afternoon, May 29, 2009, at her home in Fort Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Chapel in Glasgow. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 until 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Hiseville Cemetery following the funeral on Saturday.

Mrs. Stark was born on July 9, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., to Ulysses James Strader and Mary Elizabeth (Pemberton) Strader who are deceased. In 1948, she married Lewis Wayne Stark of Louisville, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Surviving Mrs. Stark are her daughter: Barbara LaVecce (Stark) Miller, Fort Myers, Fla., and her son, Albert Wayne Stark, Commerce, Mich. Also surviving are grandsons: Bryan Goodpaster, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bradley Stark, Commerce, Mich., and granddaughters: Suzanna Goodpaster, Louisville, Lindsey Goodpaster, Bloomington, Ind., Kristen Stark, Commerce, Mich., and Lauren Stark, Commerce, Mich.

Mrs. Stark grew up in Louisville where she graduated from Valley High School. After her marriage, she and her husband made their home in Louisville, where they started their family, and she became a stay-at-home mom. She was actively involved in Mr. Stark’s television sales and repair business for many years. She also maintained an interest in gardening, was active in the Louisville Rose Society, and enjoyed her involvement with a local sewing club and her bridge clubs.

Mrs. Stark suffered from ill health for many years, which prompted her to relocate from Louisville to Fort Myers, Fla., in November, 2008. Over the years she was a devoted wife and mother, and remained a strong influence in the lives of her family until the time of her death.

GLASGOW — Cecil Quenton Johnson, 89, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.



SUMMER SHADE — Edes Perkins Nunn, 99, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
