Eddie Dwayne Gravens

SUMMER SHADE – Eddie Dwayne Gravens, 26, of Glasgow, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was a son of the late Floyd Gravens Sr. and Shirley Medley Gravens of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help defray funeral expenses.



Walter David McDowell

CAVE CITY – Walter David McDowell, 51, of Cave City, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Lester Reed Moss

EDMONTON – Lester Reed Moss, 85, of Edmonton, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton.

He was the son of the late Nemmie and Myrtie Dickson Moss. Lester was retired from SKF Industries in Glasgow and a member of the Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Shirley-Dickson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lester is survived by one son, Eugene and wife Phyllis Moss of Edmonton; two grandsons, Doug (Chelsa) Moss and Kelly (Melissa) Moss, both of Edmonton; one sister, Grace Veluzat of Columbus, Ind., and four great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vennie Roach Moss.



Joe Louis Rice

HORSE CAVE – Joe Louis Rice, 77, of Horse Cave, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Hart County Health Care Center.

He was a son of the late Henry and Frances Dice Rice and husband of the late Dora Bee Rice.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Friendship Baptist Church, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Winn Funeral Home Chapel and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.



Mary Nell Wiley Thomason

PARK CITY – Mary Nell Wiley Thomason, 75, Park City, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green.

A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Martha Susan Williams and Joseph Walter Wiley. She was a retired employee of Sorensen’s and was a member of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Byrd and husband, Philip, of Glasgow; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Alisha Gail Cline and great-grandson, Jerry Keith Cline of Glasgow; her best friend and caregiver, Eunice David Simmons of Park City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Georgie Botts Thomason; one son, Georgie Joe Thomason; two sisters, Inez Buster and Ina Dyer; four brothers, Denton Wiley, Hoover Wiley, Leonard Wiley and Ray Wiley.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rebecca June (Curtis) Wabnitz

NORTONVILLE – Rebecca June (Curtis) Wabnitz, of Nortonville, died Friday, June 19, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Pearl Curtis.

She is survived by her husband, Glen Wabnitz.

Funeral services will Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.



Allie Watt

BOWLING GREEN – Allie Watt, 90, of Bowling Green and formerly of Smiths Grove, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at a local nursing home.

She was the daughter of the late Estell and Bertha “Jaggers” Houchin and wife of the late Walker Watt.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

GLASGOW – Haskell E. Smith, 81, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Greenwood, Ind., with burial to follow. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
