GLASGOW —
Marjorie ‘Bee’ Mitchell Brooks
CAVE CITY – Marjorie “Bee” Mitchell Brooks, 90, of Cave City, formerly of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, July 23, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Brooks was born Jan. 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Brooks and a daughter, Nancy Brooks Cushenberry, and five siblings.
She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and also a member of Broadway United Methodist Church for more than 58 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Phillips (Wayne Shultz), of Pittsford, N.Y.; son-in-law, Larry Cushenberry, of Cave City; three grandchildren, Kim Johnson (Jeff), of Owensboro, Laura Harper (Chris), of Cave City, and Greg Phillips of Cave City; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Taylor, of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Oran ‘Mitch’ Ferguson
GLASGOW– Oran “Mitch” Ferguson, 86, of Glasgow, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow.
He was born in Monroe County, the son of the late Floyd and Ada Bowles Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was owner and operator of Glasgow Glass Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of First United Methodist Church in Glasgow. He was also a member of the Mid-Ky. Antique Car Club and Square Dancers Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Baker Ferguson; two sons, Michael Ferguson, of Glasgow, and Philip Ferguson and wife Judy, of Lucas; three grandchildren, Aaron Ferguson, of Washington D.C., Hailey Ferguson, of Louisville, and Chris DeVore and wife Sherise, of Glasgow; three great-grandchildren, Rozalynn, Christopher and Henry DeVore; one brother, Marvin Ferguson, of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Vonda Starnes, of Mount Hermon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mervin Ferguson, and two sisters, Vonda Headrick and Yvonne Ferguson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow, will be at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday morning until time for services.
Inez Headrick Martin
TOMPKINSVILLE – Inez Headrick Martin, 84, of Tompkinsville, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
She is survived by her husband, Brother Amon Martin, of Tompkinsville.
She was the daughter of the late Clyde Headrick and Anna Mae Hood Headrick.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, after 3 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 26, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Monroe County Memorial Lawn in Tompkinsville. Memorials are suggested to White Cemetery.
Howard Mullins
PIKEVILLE – Howard Mullins, 85, of Pikeville, formerly of Etoile, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Pikeville Medical.
He was born in Pike County on Feb. 13, 1927, a son of the late William Preston Mullins and the late Ida Belle Gillespie Mullins.
He was the husband of the late Madge Irene Adkins Mullins, a coal miner, employed by Republic Steele Coal Company; a member of U.M.W.A. and Trigg National Fox Hunter's Association, and a member of Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Howard is survived by two sons, Gerald Mullins, of Pikeville, and Shane Mullins, of Clarksville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Grady Coleman and Bud Coleman, both of Pikeville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Howard Mullins and Silas Norbert Mullins, and 16 brothers and sisters.
Visitation is in progress at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville, and will continue on Wednesday, July 25. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 26, at noon, at Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church, with Glen Hall and others officiating. Burial will follow in Warren G. Adkins Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church.
