Wallace Baskett

TOMPKINSVILLE — Wallace Baskett, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at the Monroe County Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Herbert Baskett and Gladys Leona Gammon Baskett.

Survivors include his wife, Olene Head Baskett, of Tompkinsville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Strode Funeral Home, in Tompkinsville, with burial in Jane Yokley Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jane Yokley Cemetery.



James H. Kinslow

BECKTON — James H. Kinslow, 83, of the Beckton Community, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010.

He was born June 14, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Estell Bunch Kinslow, and a brother, William H. (Billy) Kinslow.

He was a former member of the Dairymen Inc. board of directors, a long time member and former president of both the Barren County Farm Bureau and the local Southern States Coop. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy from November 1944 to April 1946.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice Jackson Kinslow; four sons: Barry (Linda) of Mount Washington, Steve (Sylvia), Marty (Lisa) and Mike (Amy), all of Glasgow; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers-in-law: Donald (Ruth) Jackson of Glasgow, and William (Bobbie) Jackson of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, Glasgow, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Russell Knight

Columbus, Ind. — Russell Knight, 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010.

He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in East Fork, Ind., to the late Carl and Claudie Harris Knight. Russell married Frances Williams on July 12, 1952, in Glasgow. She survives.

He was employed at Cosco Inc. from January 1952 until he retired in August 1991. He was a World War II Army veteran and attended Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

Other survivors include sons, Galen T. (Susan) Knight of Greenwood, Ind., Richard (Jamie) Knight of Dallas, Texas, and James (Tammi) Knight of Noblesville, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lindburgh Knight.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home, in Edmonton, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery in Bridgeport.



Clyde Walden

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — Clyde Walden, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Kentucindana Hospital in Clarksville.

He was the son of the late William Hezzie Walden and Fannie Beth Hamilton Walden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Belle Bowles Walden.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home.

SMITHS GROVE — Sandra Kay Orton Adwell, 51, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Hospice Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is 4:30 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.



BREEDING — Ralph James Compton, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, with interment in Leatherwood Cemetery, Adair County. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home.



BOWLING GREEN — Thelma Gene Hendricks, 79, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at a Bowling Green nursing home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today (Friday) at Hardy & Son Funeral Homes, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery.



EDMONTON — Bobbie Lee Perkins, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Graveside services will be today (Friday) at 1 p.m. at the Edmonton Memorial Garden with military services provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, is in charge of arrangements.
