Mitchell Donnie Curtis

BRADENTON, Fla. — Mitchell Donnie Curtis, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, in Bradenton.

He was the son of the late Holly Curtis and Ruby Casey, of Tompkinsville, who survives. Other survivors include his wife, Jennifer Tudor Curtis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Kirkpatrick Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Lou Ellen Hammer

TOMPKINSVILLE — Lou Ellen Hammer, 69, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Tompkinsville.

She was the daughter of the late Humble Ferguson and Lena Hamilton Ferguson Moore, of Tompkinsville, who survives.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home.



Morris Neal Estes

EDMONTON — Morris Neal Estes, 49, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his home.

He was the son of Twyman Estes of Edmonton and the late Annie Pearl Brown Estes. He was a veteran of the United State Marines and was self-employed.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, with burial in Jessee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8 p.m. today (Monday) and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Besides his father, he is survived by his significant other, Valerie Taylor of Edmonton; one daughter, Sarah (John) Bragg of Watertown, N.Y.; one sister: Anita Estes of Edmonton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Julia Ann Franklin

MUNFORDVILLE — Julia Ann Franklin, 78, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was the daughter of the late Joe Green and the late Catherine Mills Green.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Franklin.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at First Baptist Church with interment at Horse Cave Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.



Loyd E. Gentry

SHEPHERDSVILLE — Loyd E. Gentry, 70, returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009.

He was a former electrician for Vulcan Hart where he worked for 28 years, a real estate agent and a Baptist by faith.

Loyd leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Jean Gentry (Green); son: David Gentry (Polly); brothers: Johnny and Marvin Gentry; and his grandchildren: Dalton, Jennifer and Krystle.

Visiting for Mr. Gentry will be 2 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Brookland Cemetery.



Jerry Michael ‘Mike’ McCoy

GLASGOW — Jerry Michael “Mike” McCoy, 63, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital after a short illness.

Mike, the son of the late Virgil and Jane Wagner McCoy, was born in Greenville, but lived almost all his life in Glasgow. Following graduation from Glasgow High School and attending W.K.U., he worked at McCoy Motor Company and later retired from Eaton Axle Company where he had been a machine operator and managed the credit union there. He was inducted as a Kentucky Colonel in the 1970s and was a member of Hiseville Christian Church.

Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Martha Carol London McCoy; his son: Jerry Michael McCoy II of Glasgow; two sisters: Carolyn Manis (Buck) and Charlene Wisdom (Barry), all of Glasgow; his mother-in-law: Cloteel London; a niece: Tonya Atkinson, RN, who attended him throughout his illness; a nephew: Blake Manis, and an aunt, Mary Rose McCoy, all of Glasgow. Other survivors include nephews: Broner McCoy of Brentwood, Tenn., and Stacey McCoy of Blakesburg, Iowa; nieces: Cara Carter of Bowling Green and Ginnie Gray; special uncle: Porter McCoy of Burkesville, and Harold Wagner of Scottsburg, Ind.; an aunt: Lila Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark McCoy; his brother, Wayne McCoy; and an uncle, James Wagner.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to Hiseville Christian Church or T.J. Samson Hospice Program.

GLASGOW — Julia Mattingly, 71, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time for services at the funeral home.



HORSE CAVE — Mary (Mammy) Hayes, 78, of Northtown, passed away at 5:10 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2009, at her home. Funeral service will be at Echo Mission church, 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2, with burial in the Echo Mission Church Cemetery under the direction of Winn Funeral Home. Visitation continues until service time on Wednesday at Echo Mission Church.



GLASGOW — Vicky Brown, 54, of Glasgow, KY, died Friday August 28, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Monday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
