CAVE CITY — Sue Ellen Arms, 54, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at her home.
She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Carroll Redford Ballard and Hettie Christine Dodson Ballard. Mrs. Arms was a homemaker and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, William; one daughter: Brenda Furlong of Cave City; one son: Carroll Arms (Laura) of Glasgow; seven grandchildren: Christopher Arms, Travis Arms, Carrissa Grant, Kelsey Arms, Dillon Furlong, Dustin Furlong and Sandy Jo Furlong; two great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Grant and Kali Curd; three sisters: Mary Boston of Glasgow, Doris Clapp (Tom) of Glasgow and Sandra Smith of Cave City; and three brothers: James “J.C.” Ballard (Esther) of Glasgow, Thomas Ballard of Ohio and Mark Ballard (Melissa) of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Dutch Creek Cemetery in Cumberland County. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Friday.

Maynard Isabelle Furlong
GLASGOW — Maynard Isabelle Furlong, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late J.E. Furlong and Beulah Elmore Furlong. She was attending Old Zion Methodist Church and Bethel Independent Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters: Maydell Thomerson and her husband John, and Marjorie Davidson and her husband Leroy; two nieces: Shelia Edmunds and her husband Chris Edmunds, and Lisa Mitchell and her husband Mike; one nephew: Jeff Harp and his wife Lisa Jo; five great-nieces and five great-nephews; also several half nieces and half nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Daisy Mae Gassaway
GLASGOW — Daisy Mae Gassaway, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
She was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Joe and Myrtle Sims. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gassaway.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by one son: Ronnie Gassaway of Glasgow; three daughters: Linda Thomas of California, Diane Campbell of Tennessee and Donna Lindsey of Glasgow; three brothers: Wayne Sims of Munfordville, and Jerry and Joe Lane Sims of Tennessee; one sister: Amogene Gravens of Indiana; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Wymagene Baker.

Marion Junior Harwood
FOUNTAIN RUN — Marion Junior Harwood, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
A son of the late Marion and Nannie Kate Simmons Harwood, he was a retired farmer and carpenter, overseer of Tracy Creek School Community Center and a member of Fountain Run Old Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons: Marion Dean Harwood, Steve Harwood and Ricky Harwood (Lori); one daughter: Pam Brewington; three brothers: Bobby Harwood (Ruthie), John Harwood (Mary) and Darryl Harwood (Bonnie); two sisters: Mabel Gravens (Charles) and Jonell Sutton; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harwood; one son, Jerry Harwood; and one granddaughter, Angela Harwood.

CAVE CITY — Anita (Ann) Holt died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Green Valley Health Rehab Center in Carrollton.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Clark and the late Dora Strange Clark and wife of the late Vincent J. Holt Sr. (Joe).
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in Stockholm Cemetery, Mammoth Cave. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Lloyd Thomas Martin
BROWNSVILLE — Lloyd Thomas Martin, 92, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
The Edmonson County native was formerly of Scottsville. He was the son of the late John Thomas Martin and Mandy Story Borden Martin and the husband of the late Rowena Lois Spencer Martin. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a farmer, carpenter and a retiree of Park Mammoth Golf Course. He was an avid fox hunter and baseball player.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur, Joe and Johnny Martin; four sisters: Emma Holton, Alice Logsdon, Alma Doyle and Lillian May; and one grandson: Shannon Donahue.
He is survived by two sons: Tommy Martin and his wife Susie, and Benny Martin, all of Nashville, Tenn.; six daughters: JoAnn Greenup and Wanda Martin of Brownsville, Faye Rosado of North Carolina, Judy Buchanon, Willena Donahue and husband Lance, Dorothy Jean Miller and husband Jerry, all of Scottsville; two sisters: Evelyn Cole and husband Bennie of Cedar Springs in Edmonson County, and Mildred Smith of Louisville; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
