Myra Riley Garmon

LAFAYETTE Tenn. – Myra Riley Garmon, known to her family as “Burble,” was born in Barren County, Kentucky, on Dec.12, 1935, to the late Charlie and Mabel Scott Riley. She was one of six siblings born to this union.

Besides her parents, Myra had a sister, Roberta Harvey Botts; brothers, Dean Riley and Charles Huel Riley; and a niece, Mary Sue Villa, who also preceded her in death.

She graduated from Temple Hill High School where she was a cheerleader. She went on to Bowling Green Technical School where she received her degree in secretarial work. She used her skills and went on to work as a secretary for many years. As a young woman, she was married and had two sons.

Myra loved being with her family. She always kept in close contact over the phone. She was always asking when you would be coming to visit her. She especially looked forward to all the holidays and birthdays, expecting to get together with her family and enjoy a meal together. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and always made it special for her family.

In her free time, Myra loved to go eat at Cracker Barrel and play Chinese checkers with her grandchildren. She was a people person and never met a stranger.

The family takes comfort in knowing she was baptized and became a Christian at the Tompkinsville Church of Christ, where she was a member.

On Jan. 5, 2013, God called Myra home. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her, but she is now resting in her eternal home.

Funeral services for Myra Garmon were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in the Hiseville Cemetery in Glasgow, Ky.

Myra is survived by: sons, Rob (Teresa) Garmon, of Glasgow, Brad (Kendra) Garmon, of Lafayette, Tenn.; grandchildren, Joshua Garmon, Lauren Garmon, both of Glasgow, Kyle Garmon, Brandi Garmon, both of Lafayette, Tenn.; sisters, Helen Coates, of Cambridge, Ohio, Hazel Wallace of El Paso, Texas; special niece, Faye Turner and husband John, of Lebanon, and several other nieces and nephews also survive. Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of arrangements.
