Willie Alley Sr.
TOMPKINSVILLE — Willie H. Alley Sr., 31, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Monroe County Medical Center.
He was the son of the late William Allen and Mary Pryor Alley Walker of Tompkinsville, who survives. He is also survived by his wife, Heather Bray Alley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home with burial to follow at Wilson Cemetery.
Wanda Lee Bartley
TOMPKINSVILLE — Wanda Lee Bartley, 82, of Tompkinsville, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Monroe Health and Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.
She was born in Monroe County on May 22, 1928, to the late Fred R. Ray and Jennie Elizabeth Gentry Ray. She was a retired nurse and widow of Esmond “Buddy” Bartley who died Sept. 10, 2004.
She is survived by two nephews, J.W. Page and Jerry Page, both of Tompkinsville, and two nieces, Patsy Gillenwater of Tompkinsville and Beverly Litzinger of Fayetteville, Ark.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wybile Ray, and three sisters, Gwendolyn Page, Earlene Pickerell and Mildred Bryant.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Old Soldier Cemetery.

GLASGOW — Lorene Gibson, 94, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at NHC Nursing Facility.

Melinda Herrensmith
LOUISVILLE — Melinda Lee Herrensmith, 62, of Fountain Run, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at University of Louisville Hospital.
She was born on April 4, 1948, in Fort Oglethorpe, Tenn. to the late Clarence A. and Ruby Whitecotton Dragoo. She was a member of Fountain Run First Baptist Church and Fountain Run Women’s Club.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Troy Cilone.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Herrensmith; children, Samuel L. Cilone Jr. (Susan), Kevin C. Cilone, Sally M. Brewington (Chris) and Gabrielle Ashley Herrensmith; and three grandchildren: Troy David Cilone, Jonathan Brewington and Sammi Jo Brewington.
A celebration of her life will be conducted Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at the funeral home.

Phillip K. McCoy
GLASGOW — Philip K. McCoy, 62, Glasgow, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at his residence.
A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Owen and Mary Free McCoy. He was a retired foreman at Eaton Axle in Glasgow, a member of South Green Street Church of Christ, and a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie Hildebrand McCoy; one daughter, Tina Steen and her husband, Les, of Glasgow; two granddaughters, Hannah Steen and Emma Steen; one brother, Marshall McCoy (Joyce) of Edmonton; six sisters: Joyce Ennis of Bowling Green, Mary Creech (Jim) of Murfreesboro, Sylvia Cook (Billy) of Edmonton, Norma Dial, Freda Dugger and Janet Dilley (Albert), all of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack McCoy, Billy McCoy and Jerry Murriell McCoy.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV, will be in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kathelene Shipley
LITTLETON, Colo. — Kathelene P. Shipley, of Littleton, Colo, died Sunday, July 18, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ellis Claspell Sr., and her second husband, Garnett Lee Shipley.
Survivors includes a son, James Ellis Claspell Jr. of Mississippi; a granddaughter, Jenna Claspell Tagliaferri of Atlanta, Ga.; and nieces, nephews and scores of friends.
Kathelene moved to Littleton in 1969. She worked as a restaurant manager and volunteered at the Littleton Community Center.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at Drinkwine Family Chapel, Littleton, Colo. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area “B."
Virginia Smith
SUMMER SHADE — Virginia Carol Smith, 69, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010,
She was the daughter of the late William A. and Floe Martin Smith and a member of Willow Shade Church of Christ. She was retired owner and operator of Smith’s Grocery and retired postmaster at Beaumont after 37 years.
She is survived by one son, Eddie Smith of Beaumont; special friend and caregiver, Therea Cassini; two sisters Jean (Bob) Frank of Dennison, Texas, and Dianne Wood of Summer Shade; a brother, Tony Smith of Beaumont; special nieces and nephews, William and Marty Smith and Tina and Sarah Lyon; two sisters-in-law, Doris Smith and Barbara (Bobby) Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Smith; and two brothers, Larry and Medford Smith.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at Willow Shade Church of Christ with Brother Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at McMurtrey Funeral Home and continue at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Summer Shade Fire Department.
Agatha Lena Sublett
GLASGOW — Agatha Lena Sublett, 82, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Barren County Health Care in Glasgow.
She was born in Glasgow, the daughter of the late Jonah Starks and Effie Martin. She attended school in Barren County and was a licensed beautician and retired from Glasgow State ICF. She loved to cook for family and friends. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a generous and caring person to all who knew her. Agatha was a wonderful “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and attended Johnson Chapel CME Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Milton Sublett; four daughters: Charlotte Ann Boards of Glasgow, Linda Sublett-Buckner (Leroy) of Glasgow, Vivian Sublett-Franklin (Wendell) of Cave City and Myra Sublett-Hayes (Ricky) of Glasgow; two sons: Oliver Charles Bush (Betty) of Hardyville and George Roundtree of Bowling Green; six grandchildren: LaKeisha Dawn Myer, LaTasha Buckner-Voskuhl, Oliver Charles Bush, LeAndra K. Buckner, Jason Tyler Maxey and Brittany Agatha Duff; a niece: Vanessa Martin, a great-nephew: Justin Roundtre; and her caregivers: Rachel Rock and Barbara Shaw.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Olene Martin; and a brother, Cecil Martin.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Barlow Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Hickory College Church of Christ with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Thursday at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade.
