GLASGOW — Jesse Ray Basil

SUMMER SHADE — Jesse Ray Basil, 25, of Summer Shade, died Saturday, July 5, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident.

He is survived by his parents, Tony and Patricia Basil, of Edmonton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.





Dr. Gene Clark Farley

BOWLING GREEN — Dr. Gene Clark Farley, 90, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at The Medical Center of Bowling Green.

Dr. Farley was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Harlan. He graduated from Hall High School in Harlan, received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University while working in the coal mines, and earned a doctorate degree from Vanderbilt Peabody University. Dr. Farley had a prosperous career of 44 years in education. He was the superintendent of Glasgow and Hopkinsville city schools and was a professor of educational leadership at Western Kentucky University for many years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green. He was a former deacon, trustee and a member of Baraca Sunday School Class. Dr. Farley was a decorated World War II veteran. He served in the 34th Infantry Division, 185th Field Artillery, Battery A, and he was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. Dr. Farley was an active Rotarian, an avid farmer and a past Salvation Army board member.

Survivors include a daughter: Clarkie Burks and husband John of Bowling Green; a grandson: Yancey Burks of Bowling Green; a granddaughter: Farley Burks Andersen and husband William of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister: Sue Farley Strunk of Allen Park, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beulah Correll Farley; an infant son, Gene Craig Farley; and his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels Inc., Lovers Lane Chapel, Bowling Green, with burial in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Somerset. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 8, and from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Delsie Denton Shaw

FOUNTAIN RUN — Delsie Denton Shaw, 86, of Fountain Run, died at Hopkins Care & Rehab Center, in Woodburn.

She is the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Dunham) Creek.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, in the Fountain Run Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Akersville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.



Lola Mae Wilson

EDMONTON — Lola Mae Wilson, 89, of Edmonton, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.  

She was the daughter of the late Willis Harvey Delone and Lola Mae Babcock. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, July 11, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with cremation to follow. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Sunday.   

She is survived by one son, Raymond Wilson of Edmonton; four daughters: Nancy Skilling of Naples, Fla., Yvonne Conklin of Florida, Jeanette Calbi and Carol Patton, both of Maryland; one brother: Louie Delong of Texas; one sister: Dorothy Parrish of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her husband. Edward A. Wilson.

HODGENVILLE — Judelle Pemberton Bunnell, 86, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.



GLASGOW — Becky June Coffey, 60, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.
