Jeffrey Thomas Foster

GLASGOW — Jeffrey Thomas Foster, 59, died suddenly Monday morning, Sept. 21, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Houston, Texas, the son of the late Andrew Crump Foster and Janet Flint Foster.

Jeff was an educator in the Glasgow and Barren County school systems for 27 years and was a long-time seasonal ranger at Mammoth Cave National Park.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a son, Jon Foster and wife Natalie of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Jayne Foster of Bowling Green; two grandchildren: Rodes and Edith Foster of Marietta, Ga.; his brother: Andy Foster and wife Emily of Palm Desert, Calif.; a niece: Dr. Amy Williams of Chicago, Ill.; and a nephew: Chris Foster of Washington, DC.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Glasgow Baptist Church with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home from 1 until 8 p.m. and on Friday at Glasgow Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time for the service.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Jeffrey T. Foster Educational Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Unique Gifts, 1101 Cleveland Ave., Glasgow, KY 42141.

Dealie Vell Adams Hale

TOMPKINSVILLE — Dealie Vell Adams Hale died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Monroe County Health Care.

She was the daughter of the late Joe and Neomi Fox Adams and wife of the late Roy Edward Hale.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Guy Franklin Shirley

JACKSON, Miss. — Guy Franklin Shirley, longtime Bowling Green resident, more recently of Jackson, Miss., died Thursday, Sept. 17 after a brief illness.

Guy Shirley was born in Metcalfe County, to the late Waller Franklin Shirley and Lillie Cook Shirley, in 1931. Shortly after high school, in 1951, he joined the U.S. Air Force, for what would become a 26 year career of world travel and faithful service to his country. He served three tours in Viet Nam. He received various honors from the Air Force and attaained the rank of Master Sergeant.

Guy met the love of his life, Betty Jo Steenbergen, of Oakland and Bowling Green, and they were married in Oakland in 1954.

Their daughter, Aleda, was born in 1955 in Sumter, S.C. After military retirement in 1977, the Shirleys made Bowling Green their home, and shared the life of the community for the next 30 years.

Guy was preceded in death by Betty Jo, in 2007, and Aleda, in 2008, and earlier by a sister, Nell.

He is survived by two sisters, Joyce Gray of Glasgow, and Gladys Keithley of Frankfort; a son-in-law, Michael McBride of Jackson, Miss., and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m., at Greenwood Park Church of Christ in Bowling Green. Burial will be private.



William Harold Squires

OAKLAND — William Harold Squires, 76, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at The Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Rev. T.W. Squires and Christial Beavers Squires. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Britt.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

PARK CITY — Norman Neal Davidson, 82, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Park City. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hayden Cemetery, Park City. Burnam & Son Mortuary, Inc., 201 Center St., Bowling Green, is in charge of arrangements.



FOUNTAIN RUN — Helen Francis Pedigo, 85, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tenn. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hughes Funeral Chapel in Fountain Run. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Wednesday), and after 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at the funeral home.



GLASGOW — Linda Jean Slagle, 53, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Shiloh Cemetery.
