Eva Simmons DeMunbrun
PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Eva Simmons DeMunbrun died Aug. 6, 2009, at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Wash., at the age of 91.
She was the eighth of 10 children born to Cora and James Simmons in Joppa. She graduated from Cave City High School and married Buell DeMunbrun on June 3, 1936. She enjoyed a long career with National Park Concessions and after retirement she actively engaged herself volunteering in her community, especially enjoying her many years tutoring children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buell, and son, Malcolm.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Jim) Pfaff; sister, Vena Ingraham, Kentucky; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family asks that memorials be made to a local Hospice of your choice.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, was in charge of arrangements.
James ‘Ernie’ Nifong
TOMPKINSVILLE — James “Ernie” Nifong, 54, formerly of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at his home in Tompkinsville.
Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Jack Earnest Nifong and the late Joann Clark Nifong. Mr. Nifong was a farmer and attended the Green Meadow Baptist Church as a child.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Eva Jean Nifong of Tompkinsville; one daughter: Cammy Lynn Nifong of Tompkinsville; one stepson: Kevin York (Joyce) of Glasgow; one stepdaughter: Serena King (Eddie) of Glasgow; two brothers: Ricky Nifong (Ruby) of Indiana; Jackie Nifong (Charolette) of Tennessee; one sister: Penny Chapman (Buck) of Glasgow; six step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Cathy Terry and Janice Ann Nifong.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

BURKESVILLE — Bonnie Johnson, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Cumberland County Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, Burkesville, with burial in the Burkesville Cemetery.
Rosella Cox Stotts
HORSE CAVE — Rosella Cox Stotts, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at the Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Brown and Ada Lee Chaney Cox and wife of the late Louis Stotts.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Center Cemetery. Visitation continues after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Howard O. Wells
SMITHS GROVE — Howard O. Wells, 83, of Smiths Grove, Ky., died Saturday, September 25, 2009, in Glasgow.
He was born in Cumberland County, Ky., the son of Don and Pearl Humphrey Wells, who are deceased. He was a carpenter and farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Woodland United Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, a former clerk and Song Leader.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Wells of Smiths Grove, Ky.; two sons, Bro. Wayne Wells (Beverly) of Park City, Ky., and David Wells (Darlene) of Glasgow, Ky.; three daughters, Wanda Bledsoe (Gurl) of Smiths Grove, Ky., Glenda Hankins (Jerry) of Bon Ayr, Ky., and Linda Reed of Russellville, Ky.; two brothers, James Wells of Glasgow, Ky., and Ray Wells of Glasgow, Ky.; one sister, Marie Tetrey of Indiana; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Henry Wells; two sisters, Aline Elmore and Thelma Hawkins and one son-in-law, Steve Reed.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel and after 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, until time of service at Woodland United Baptist Church. Services will be noon Monday, September 28, 2009, with burial to follow in Woodland Church Cemetery.
