William Forman Payne III

GLASGOW — William Forman Payne III, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

The Barren County native was a son of the late William Forman Payne II and Nettie Barbour Payne. He was a retired machinist for Sherwin-Williams and Continental Can and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lera Nichols Payne; one son, Frank Payne and wife, Debra, of Dallas, Texas; three daughters: Kay Wright and husband, Kim, of Glasgow, Arnetta Miner and husband, James, of Houston, and Billie Dance and husband, Greg, of Mooresville, Ind.; one sister: Mary Bethel Robinette and husband, James, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Private services for the family was held at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with cremation following. Inurnment will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Laren L. Brathall

HORSE CAVE — Laren L. Brathall, 75, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Brathall was born in Wilson, Wis., a retired trucking supervisor for American Freight and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Brathall; a son: Bruce Arvidson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brathall was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Brathall; his daughter, Terri Cook; and his brother, Leonard Brathall.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery with burial to follow, under the direction of Winn Funeral Home.

Alma Proffitt Dickerson

GAMALIEL — Alma Proffitt Dickerson, 98, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at the Monroe Health Care & Rehab Center in Tompkinsville. She was the widow of John Ellis Dickerson.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be under the direction of Strode Funeral Home, Gamaliel.



Martha E. Sweet

MUNFORDVILLE — Martha E. Sweet, 79, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Jenny Jaggers Sexton and wife of the late Richard Sweet.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Wilkerson Temple Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the church until time for services at 1 p.m.



SERVICES

CAVE CITY — Brother Ewell T. Cooper, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation continues today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at which time the body will be moved to the church.



PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Eva Simmons DeMunbrun died Aug. 6, 2009, at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Wash., at the age of 91.

Services will be at Mammoth Cave Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. The family asks that memorials be made to a local Hospice of your choice. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.



GLASGOW — Rosa Margaret Compton Robertson, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at NHC Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiser Cemetery at Center. Friends may call at the funeral home.



GLASGOW — Larry Dale Thornton, 65, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at his home after an illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at White's Chapel Methodist Church at Boyce, in Warren County. Burial will be in White's Chapel Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Tuesday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home from 3 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 11 a.m. until time for the service. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to BRAWA (Barren River Animal Welfare Assn.), P.O. Box 171, Glasgow, KY 42142-0171.
