Cheryl Elaine Ridge

Aug. 13, 1950 — Oct. 9, 2009


BROOKINGS, Ore. —Cheryl Elaine Ridge went home to be with her Lord with gentle grace and peace, surrounded by the love of her sister and caregiver, Diana, and her sister, Sharon, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. She was 59.

A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Christian Family Fellowship, 15786 Hwy. 101 South in Brookings. Cremation was held at Redwood Memorial Crematory.

Cheryl was born Aug. 13, 1950, in Tacoma, Wash., to Lynn and Gwendolyn (Perry) Peterson. She grew up in Washington and Oregon. Vocationally, Cheryl did many things throughout her life, but ended as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, her final station being in Brookings. She was a member of Christian Family Fellowship. Cheryl had a deep, child-like faith and her sweet, giving nature was felt by all who met and knew her. Despite her terminal illness, she still put others needs before her own. She loved to cook, make jewelry and crocheted afghans for those she loved. She loved her family, friends and her pets.

Survivors include her sister, Diana Allen of Brookings, Ore.; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jane and Dave Roberts of Astoria, Ore., Sharon and Roger Russell of Park City, Cynthia and Brad Burden of Lake Oswego, Ore.; brothers: David Peterson of Tacoma, Wash., Dan Peterson and his wife, Alison, of Hillsboro, Ore., several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; aunt: Elaine Timmerman of Bellvue, Wash.; uncles: Chuck Perry and his wife, Mary, Mike Perry and Steven Perry, son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Aimee Hall and their son, the joy of Cheryl's life, Gabriel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother, Ruby Dickens, and her youngest sister, Carolyn Marie Peterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Curry County Hospice, P.O. Box 348, Gold Beach, OR 97444; or to the Curry County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 746, Gold Beach, OR 97444.

Redwood Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.



Katheryne Anderson Bowman

TOMPKINSVILLE — Katheryne Anderson Bowman, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

She was the daughter of the late Creed Anderson and the late Dollie Scott Anderson and wife of the late George Bowman.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial in Bailey Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Jesse Philmore Stonewall

GLASGOW — Jesse Philmore Stonewall, 44, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 13, 1964, in Glasgow, a son of the late McKinley Stonewall and Helen Brewer Stonewall. He was a graduate of Kentucky School For The Deaf and an avid fisherman and had resided in Glasgow most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sister, Helen Denise Stonewall, Glasgow; two brothers: McKinley Stonewall II and his wife, Lynn, of Frankfort, and James Stonewall and his wife, Angela, of New Castle, Ind.; eight nieces and nephews: Tanya Jewell, of Glasgow, Cedric Shannon, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Latrice Shannon, of Louisville, Josh Richie and Aaron Richie, both of Frankfort; McKinzie Stonewall of Louisville, McKinley III, of Frankfort, Alana Stonewall of New Castle, Ind.; two great-nieces: Riahna Shannon of Glasgow; Brooklyn Jordan of Glasgow; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Watts Funeral Home with Richie Noble officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellow Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Sims Green

CAVE CITY — Evelyn Sims Green, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at her sister’s home in Upton.

She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Bradley Sims and the widow of Tommy Green.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 11 a.m. Thursday. Rosary will be Thursday at 5 p.m.



Carl H. Matthews

GLASGOW — Carl H. Matthews, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at the Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.

Arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Freeman Sexton

GLASGOW — Freeman Sexton, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.

BOWLING GREEN — Robert Leon Gravil, 65, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Homes Inc., Bowling Green.



GLASGOW — Arnold Mansfield, 94, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.



COOKTOWN — Mary Dodd Ellis Thomas, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
