Warren H. McCaulley

LOUISVILLE – Warren H. McCaulley, 87, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Louisville.

He was a retired principal of Melbourne Heights and Klondike Lane Elementary schools, a former teacher and coach at Southern High School, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a graduate of Western Kentucky University and received a masters degree from Indiana University, a Sunday School teacher, elder and former clerk of session at Beulah Presbyterian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Southern High School Alumni Hall of Fame and Buechel Masonic Lodge #896.

He loved his church, enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and was an avid fan of Western Kentucky University football and basketball.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rush McCaulley on Sept. 18, 2009.

He is survived by his children, David (Edith) and Mark (Debbie) McCaulley and Maryanne (David) McKinney; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Adolphs and brother, Roger McCaulley.

His funeral was 10 a.m. Thursday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291 with burial in Pennsylvania Run Cemetery. Visitation was 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial gifts: Disabled American Veterans or Beulah Presbyterian Church Christian Education Program.



Patricia Lynne Short

TOMPKINSVILLE – Patricia Lynne Short, 34, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in Tompkinsville.

The Monroe County native was born Dec. 18, 1974, a daughter of Willie Coe Short and Carolyn Hurd Short, of Tompkinsville. She was a student at Tennessee Tech Center.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Polly Hurd, of Tompkinsville; a special friend, Ray Wilson, of Cookeville, Tenn.; one sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Randy Birge, of Tompkinsville; and two nieces, Makayla and Aleda Birge, both of Tompkinsville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home and will be officiated by Brother Jimmy Cook with Makayla Birge. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



Martha Jean Smith

TOMPKINSVILLE – Martha Jean Smith, 69, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Monroe Health & Rehab Center in Tompkinsville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.



Henry G. Steward

TENNESSEE – Henry G. Steward, 83 of Gallatin, Tenn., died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in Gallatin.

The Sumner County, Tenn., native was the son of the late Clay Steward and Myrtle Huffine and husband of the late Margaret Steward.

A graveside service will be 5 p.m. Thursday in Fountain Run Cemetery. Hughes Funeral Chapel, Fountain Run, is in charge of arrangements.



James A. Tallman

BOWLING GREEN – James A. Tallman, 82, of Bowling Green and a longtime resident of Wyoming, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late James A. Tallman and Sarah Ceciliam Rhyan.

Survivors include his wife, Pamalia Tallman, of Bowling Green.

Funeral mass will be 12 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with interment at a later date in the veteran’s section of Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Friday at the church. Hardy & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.



Christine Waller

GLASGOW — Christine Waller, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Willie and Betty Carver Holder. Christine was a member of Cedar Cross Baptist Church in Scottsville but attended the Dripping Springs Baptist Church in Metcalfe County.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She is survived by two children: Arlis and wife Beckie Waller, of Glasgow, and Tena Bunch, also of Glasgow; one grandson: Daniel R. Bunch of Glasgow; two sisters: Marjorie Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, and Ila Spencer of Scottsville.
