Madie Mardell Grimsley

ANDERSON, Ind. — Madie Mardell Grimsley, 82, formerly of this area, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2009, in Indianapolis.

She was a homemaker and a daughter of the late John and Dora Jane Lester Froedge and wife of the late Jessie Grimsley. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son: Marlon Grimsley (companion, Leah Reddick) of Chesterfield, Ind.; one sister: Nell Hines of Edmonton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Grimsley; brothers, Buell, Wallace and Paul Froedge; and sisters, Gertrude Blankenship and Perrie Hurt.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.



Lessie Elizabeth Spinks

BOWLING GREEN — Lessie Elizabeth Spinks, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Graham and Laura Atchley Graham and wife of the late Carl Spinks.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Sean Alan Pruitt

GLASGOW — Sean Alan Pruitt, 32, went home to be with his Heavenly Father in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. Sean was a free spirit with a pure soul.

He is survived by his loving parents, James “J.L.” and Bonnie Pruitt of Glasgow; brother, James “Jamie” (Jennifer) Pruitt of Hardyville; three sisters, Christy Pruitt, Heather Pruitt (Scott) and Dawn (Benjamin) Neet, all of Glasgow; 10 nieces and nephews; a loyal companion, Rusty; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sean was a graduate of the Class of 1998 from Glasgow High School. He was a lifelong fan of Kentucky and enjoyed watching wrestling. Sean was a joy to be around and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will never forget his innocent and purest love at that. He will truly be missed by many. His memory will live on forever.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

CAVE CITY — James Oren Johnson, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday)at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cave City Cemetery.



GLASGOW — Charles Lapham, 75, of Winn School Road, Glasgow, passed away at his home at noon, Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, from lymphoma. There will be gatherings across the country for friends and family to celebrate and toast Charlie’s life today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. CT. The local celebration will be held at the home of Arlene Lapham, 16 Winn School Road, Glasgow. In accordance with Charlie’s wishes, his body has been donated to science at The University of Louisville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Nature Conservancy.



HORSE CAVE — Kenneth Earl Puckett, 76, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Munfordville Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Thursday) and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until time for services.



GLASGOW — Jessie Vaughan Wells, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



SUMMER SHADE — Moody Word, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.
