George Sherman Pursley

GLASGOW — George Sherman Pursley, 81, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in Glasgow.

Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Alice Davis Pursley. Mr. Pursley was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and attended Whites Chapel Church. He was a member of the Mid-Kentucky Region Antique Car Club and a veteran of the Korean War serving in Company D 7th M Tank Battalion of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons: Roger C. Pursley (Barbara) and Gary Pursley (Melissa), both of Glasgow; a daughter: Bridey Baron (Tom) of Vail, Ariz.; a sister: Ruby Wilson of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Willie Lois Peden; and two brothers, Lonnie Herman Pursley and James Robert Pursley.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nolian Franklin

AUSTIN — Ms. Nolian Franklin, 91, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced by Hughes Funeral Chapel in Fountain Run.



Ella Mae Kerr Froedge

GEORGETOWN — Ella Mae Kerr Froedge, 91, formerly of Monroe County, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Grant Manor.

She was born in Clay County, Tenn., on Nov. 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Riley Alexander Kerr and Effie Dosie Scott Kerr. She was a member of the Mount Gilead Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Freida and James Williams of Georgetown, and Betty and Isaac Butler of Cave City; one sister: Chris Gary of Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Froedge; one son, Mitchell Dale Froedge; one daughter, Golda Vivan Hodges; and one grandson, Charles Michael Froedge.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with Brother Randall McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery.



Lincoln ‘Abe’ Coffey

CANMER — Lincoln “Abe” Coffey, 61, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Arthur Coffey and the late Mary McKinney Coffey.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Coffey.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in Cosby Cemetery. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

GLASGOW — Valorie D. Book, 55, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at her residence. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



BEECH GROVE, Ind. — Dennis Clyde Hammer, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Monroe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.



NORTHTOWN — Charles Rountree, 69, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at the home of his daughter. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Northtown Church Cemetery.



TOMPKINSVILLE — Nancy Finley Strode, 67, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Mount Poland Cemetery.
