George Adwell

HORSE CAVE — George Adwell, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at his home.

He was a native of Horse Cave, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Little Hope Baptist Church, retired electrician for Mammoth Cave National Park where he served for 32 years including his military service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alf Adwell and Virgie Dennison Adwell.

Survivors include his wife: Leila Adwell of Horse Cave; a son: Johnny Adwell of Horse Cave; a daughter: Becky Gregory of Indiana; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donna Jo Harrison Colter

GLASGOW – Donna Jo Harrison Colter, 45, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

She was born in Glasgow, the daughter of Jackie Harrison of Glasgow, who survives, and the late Betty Martin Harrison. Ms. Colter was a deputy jailer with the Barren County Correction Center.

In addition to her father, she is survived by two daughters: Mindy Jo Smith (Matthew) and Lakrissa Barlow, both of Glasgow; her companion of 20 years, Jr. Barlow; two granddaughters: Abbigayle and Aubrey Smith; a sister: Tina Manion of Glasgow; and a niece and nephew, Madison and Cooper Manion of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Jimmie Hunter Garmon

WISDOM — Jimmie Hunter Garmon, 70, of the Wisdom Community in Metcalfe County, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Adam Garmon and Alma McIntyre Willis, of Edmonton, who survives.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He is survived by a son: Jeremy (Crystal) Garmon of Edmonton; a daughter: Allison (Eugene) Poindexter of Glasgow; and three grandchildren: Jase Garmon, of Edmonton, Jessee and Lauren Poindexter, both of Glasgow.

Besides his father Jimmie, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Nance Garmon.

Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services for Sammy K. and Sheila Sue Shaw will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Summer Shade Baptist Church with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
