William Lee ‘Bill’ Childress

CUB RUN — William Lee “Bill” Childress, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in Cub Run.

He was the son of the late Elza Childress and Mabel Kessinger Childress.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in St. Benedict Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Kenneth Jerome Mattingly Sr.

AUSTIN — Kenneth Jerome Mattingly Sr., 74, , died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Westview Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

He was born in Indianapolis, the youngest of 15 children of the late Walter John Mattingly and Mary Sabina Gough Mattingly. Mr. Mattingly was a dairy farmer and former salesman. He had fulfilled his life’s dream to farm and was a member of the National Dairy Committee and the Farm Aid Committee. He enjoyed his family, friends and his dog, Katie. His motto for living was “work hard, play fair, have fun.” He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Scottsville.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Warren Mattingly; three sons: Kenny Mattingly (Beverly) and Tim Mattingly, both of Austin, and Craig Mattingly (Cindy) of Leonardtown, Md.; four daughters: Joyce Mattingly (Darrell) of Brownsburg, Ind., Angie Mattingly of Philadelphia, Pa., Anne Hodges (Todd) of Glasgow and Jennifer Gibson (Ron) of Jacksonville, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother: Ralph Mattingly (Mary Jane) of Indianapolis; and a sister: Pauline Mershon (Lewis) of Indianapolis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Scottsville with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time for the service.

A rosary service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m.

Minnie M. Sutton

EDMONTON — Minnie M. Sutton, 49, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Elzie and Rosie Stevens McCauley.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Sutton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.



John C. Tomblin

DINGESS, W.V. — John C. Tomblin, 44, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Hospital, Glasgow.

He was the son of the late Jesse James and Goldie Marie Tomblin.

Survivors include his wife, Francis Tomblin, of Edmonton.

A celebration of John’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, Dingess, W.V. He will be laid to rest in Tomblin Cemetery, Dingess, W.V.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 13, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the church.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, W.V., is in charge of arrangements.

GLASGOW – Donna Jo Harrison Colter, 45, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.



BOWLING GREEN — Charlene Hawks Lawrence, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Greenview Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



BOWLING GREEN — Barbara Jean Mills, 64, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today (Thursday) and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
