George Croft

SUMMER SHADE — George Croft, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow.

Arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Wilburn Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Hodges

BONNIEVILLE — Wilburn Ronald “Ronnie” Hodges, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at his home.

He was the son of the late Russell and Ruth Pence Hodges.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Philpott Hodges.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today (Thursday) in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, Munfordville, with burial in Campground Cemetery.



Dorothy Evelyn Waters

BARDSTOWN — Dorothy Evelyn Waters, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Dan and Lovie Isenberg and wife of the late W.O. Waters.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.



Carolyn Jewell Martin

CAVE CITY — Carolyn Jewell Martin, 49, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.

The Barren County native was the daughter of the late John Henry Jewell and Sarah Frances Coomer Watkins, Cave City, who survives her.

She was employed at T.J. Samson Community Hospital for 26 years and was a member of Cave City Christian Church. She was a member of the Cave City Chamber of Commerce, served as secretary for the Cave Country Lions Club and assisted with the Modern Woodmen Junior Club. She and her husband were recently honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Cave City Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Douglas L. Martin; a daughter, Amanda Carol (Nicholas) Sturgeon; a son, Jason Douglas (Lisa) Martin; and three grandchildren, Easton Martin, Ashton Martin, and Lillian Sturgeon, all of Cave City; a brother, William Earnest Finn, Fairview; four sisters, Judy Fancher and Brenda Humphrey, both of Radcliff, Connie Hughes, Glasgow, Donna Harper, Horse Cave; and her step-father, Riley Watkins, Cave City.

Funeral services with the Rev. Wayne Hensley officiating will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City with burial in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 1 p.m. Thursday.

SMITHS GROVE — Richard “Dick” Joseph Bessette Sr., 69, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday), and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — Edna Ruth McCutcheon, 68, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. EST Saturday at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, Ind., with burial in Old Union Chapel Cemetery in Sulphur, Ind. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. EST and after 9 a.m. EST Saturday until time of service.



MUNFORDVILLE — Randy Richardson, 67, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at the University of Louisville Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Rowletts Baptist Church with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery, under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave. Visitation continues until 9 p.m. today (Thursday), at the funeral home; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Donations may be given to the Munfordville Lions Club.



GLASGOW — Charles “Ben” Seeley, 66, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Seeley Family Cemetery at Breeding. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Thursday) and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
