James Hughes Kingrey
LOUISVILLE — James Hughes Kingrey, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at University of Louisville Hospital from injuries sustained in an accident on Dec. 12.
A native of Barren County, he was the youngest son of the late Radford and Lucy Frances (Hood) Kingrey, U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Valley Chapel of Prayer.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia A. (Smith) Kingrey; three children: Angela Dawn (Allen) Bush, Christopher Hughes (Jennifer) Kingrey, and James Joshua Kingrey; nine grandchildren: Justin Keith Bush, Cody Allen Bush, Jerron Skylier Kingrey, Jamison Michael Kingrey, Shayla Renea Kingrey, Clayton Matthew Spivey, Tiffany Roxanne Spivey, Timothy Ryan Spivey and Larry Clay Tyler Spivey; four brothers: Herman Kingrey of Glasgow, Ewing “Doc” Kingrey of Mount Hermon, Paris (Betty) Kingrey of Temple Hill, and Curtis (Dorothy) Kingrey of Louisville; and many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Daisy Eubank, Alene Key and Verneal Spradlin; and three brothers, Millard Kingrey, Thurman Kingrey and Floyd Kingrey.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Glasgow, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV at the cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. (EST) Thursday at Valley Chapel of Prayer, 9111 Mitchell Lane, Louisville, and from 1 to 8 p.m. (CST) Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Zada Proffitt Mansfield
GLASGOW — Zada Proffitt Mansfield, 91, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Barren County, she was born in Cave City in 1918, the daughter of Hiley J. and Ella Gramlin Proffitt. Mrs. Mansfield was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Arnold Mansfield. She was a member of South Green Street Church of Christ. She loved her home, her friends and her church family. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son: Doug Mansfield and his wife Sheila of Hiawassee, Ga.; daughter: Cynthia Mansfield Goslee and husband Roland Kreager of Richmond, Ind.; grandchildren: Katie Goslee and Chad Goslee, Brooke Mansfield and Tami Pritchett; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers: James Proffitt and Paul Proffitt (Wanda) of Glasgow; and one sister: Katherine Thomason of Glasgow.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning until time for the service.

SMITHS GROVE — Joyce Marie Cooke, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green.
She was the daughter of the late Belmont “Bus” Cooke and Gusteen Allen Cooke.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Icy Sink Baptist Church, with burial in Stoney Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel.
Ruby Alice Proffitt
PAOLI, Ind. — Ruby Alice Proffitt, 96, formerly of Glasgow and Tompkinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Paoli Health and Living in Paoli, Ind.
She was the daughter of the late Alonzo C. and Mary Chism Proffitt.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Isenberg Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Linda Gail Sturgeon
MAGNOLIA — Linda Gail Sturgeon, 52, died at her home on Dec. 15, 2009.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Linda was born Aug. 6, 1957, to the late Ewing P. Rogers and the late Barbara J. Norman. Linda attended Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Sturgeon; one daughter: Amanda (Ricky) Pennington of Horse Cave; one stepson: Robert (Lorie) Sturgeon of Edmonton; two grandchildren: Travis and Patrick Pennington of Horse Cave; two step-grandchildren: Ryan and Carrie Perkins of Edmonton; one brother: David Rogers of Cave City; three sisters: Connie Denise (Daryl) Sexton of Hiseville, Shirley (William) Crumpton of Cave City and Karen (Steve) Rich of Munfordville; stepmother: Jean Rogers of Glasgow; one stepsister: Sue (Timmy) King of Austin; two stepbrothers: Gary Hicks of Glasgow and Tony (Sandra) Hicks of Hiseville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral home with Brother Walter Milby officiating. Burial will be in Horse Cave Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Harold James Osar
MUNFORDVILLE — Harold James Osar, 78, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
He was the son of the late Harold Stephen Osar and Helen Rowe Allison, of New Jersey, who survives. He is also survived by his wife of 59 years, Sylvia Osar of Munfordville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Caves Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 18, with burial in St. Benedict Cemetery, Wax. Visitation will be from 2 until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville. A rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
