Ruby Grace Adwell

CAVE CITY — Ruby Grace Adwell, was stillborn on Dec. 17, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community hospital.

Survivors include her mother, Sara Meghan Grace Adwell Norman of Cave City; two sisters: Chloe Norman and Ella Norman, of Cave City; grandparents: Mac and Judy Adwell of Glasgow; great-grandmother: Grace Hurt of Marrowbone; great-grandparents: Hack and Debbie Adwell of Louisville; two aunts: September Short (Matt) and Heather Sallee, both of Glasgow; one uncle: Brian Adwell (Trista) of Glasgow; two great-uncles: Scott (Juanita) Adwell and Kelly Adwell of Glasgow. Several cousins also survive.

She is preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Radford “Paw” Hurt; and great-grandmother, Tennie Morgan.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Services were under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Brenda Gee Benberry

TOMPKINSVILLE — Brenda Gee Benberry, 50, of Summer Shade died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at her home.

She is the daughter of the late Allen Gee and Eva Hagan Gee, who survives.

The funeral is Monday at 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home. Burial is in the Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.



J.B. Phillips

GAMALIEL — J.B. Phillips, 87, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Monroe County Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Pickett County, Tenn., to the late Clarence “Hap” and Ada Stanford Phillips. He married Arnell Blankenship on March 5, 1946, at the home of Brother Raymond Jones. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a logger and member and deacon of Gamaliel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Genell Kaye Phillips; and brother, Freeman Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Arnell Blankenship Phillips of Gamaliel; two daughters and sons-in-law: Robin R. and Glen Ray Lyon of Gamaliel, and Barbara and Thomas Copass of Tompkinsville; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers: Willie Dee Phillips of Glasgow, and Billy Gene Phillips of Reedley, Calif.; and two sisters: Maedean Taylor of Gamaliel, and Geneva Tuttrup of Selma, Calif.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Gamaliel Baptist Church with Brother Richard Esterling and Brother John Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery with military service by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Visitation continues from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral home. Visitation after 1 p.m. Sunday will be at Gamaliel Baptist Church until time for services.
