CAVE CITY – Daniel Trigg Curd III, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at his home.
He was the widower of Veatrece Curd.
Funeral services, under the direction of the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, are incomplete.
Tressie Garrett
GLASGOW – Tressie Garrett, 88, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
She was born in Barren County and was a daughter of the late Eugene and Maude Underwood Greer. Her husband was the late Marvin Garrett. Mrs. Garrett was a former employee of Handmacher and was a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Garrett Hall (Jimmy) of Glasgow; three sons: Jimmy Maxwell Garrett (Louise) and Millard Eugene Garrett, both of Glasgow, and Kimble Starr Garrett (Donna) of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Tiger Hall (Sandy), Toren Garrett (Angie), Kenneth Garrett (Shana), Varsey Humphrey (Will), Shawn Hall (Jessica), Calissa Furlong (Steven), Brandon Garrett (Shenia) and Jordan Garrett; four brothers: Stanley Greer of Etoile, Paul Greer, William Dean Greer and Bill Greer, all of Glasgow; two sisters, Bessie Williams of Glasgow and Emogene Button Garner. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sanders Greer, and a sister, Mary Frances Elliott.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Grider Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Nannie Izel Key Hale
GAMALIEL – Nannie Izel Key Hale, 89, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
She was the daughter of the late Ollie Key and Ethel Shaw Key and wife of the late Buel Hale.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel with burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Rocky Hill Cemetery.
Rachel Naomi Harper
CAVE CITY – Rachel Naomi Harper, 67, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Hart County Health Care, Horse Cave.
She was the daughter of the late Elmer Kelley Harper and Florence Mae Goodhue Harper.

BURKESVILLE – Lucy Oliver, 95, a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the nursing home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home with burial in Burkesville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Clara Jewell Smith
GLASGOW – Clara Jewell Smith, 92, of Glasgow and formerly of Lucas, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at the NHC Health Care Facility in Glasgow.
She was born in Lucas, the daughter of the late Samuel Walter Jewell and Laura Henry Gillock Jewell. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gerald Smith and a sister, Mary Frances Awtry, who was just buried this past Saturday in the family cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Lucas Homemakers, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Peter’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Lucas.
She is survived by a son, Larry Patterson (Connie) of Lucas; two grandchildren, Gary Jewell Patterson (Donna) of Lucas and Leeann Bailey (Steve) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren Allen Jewell Patterson, Krista Lee Patterson and Ella Bailey.
Visitation will be at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from 2 until 7 p.m. with the funeral service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the same evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jewell Family Cemetery at Lucas the following day.

BURKESVILLE – Stevie Paul Spear, 47, a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the nursing home.

Tom Wolfe
MUNFORDVILLE – Tom Wolfe, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at his residence in Munfordville.
He was a member of the Cedar Cliff Baptist Church and U.S. Air Force veteran. He was retired from Blatz Paint Co. in Louisville.
He was the son of the late Russell Wolfe and the late Margaret Lyons Wolfe.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Fultz, of Pekin, Ind.; one son, Scott Wolfe of Pekin, Ind.; eight grandchildren: Brooke Hubacher, Seth Nolot, Ryan, Torey, Tyler, Sarah Wolfe, Cody and Logan Fultz, all of Pekin, Ind.; three great-grandchildren: Jake, Addy and Sophie; a special brother, Marcus Taylor of Munfordville; and a special sister, Wanita Bindner of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Tony Wolfe.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church with Brother Greg England officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Brook Funeral Home in Munfordville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
OAKLAND – Versie Lillian Cowles, 95, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at her residence. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Otter Gap Church with burial to follow in Otter Gap Cemetery.

TOMPKINSVILLE – John Douglas Evans, 72, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Monroe County. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. ASHLAND – Patricia “Patty” Houchen Johnson Justice passed away at the Community Hospice Care Center on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009. All services will be at First Christian Church, 1930 Winchester Ave, Ashland, where she was a faithful member. Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 22, 4 to 7 p.m. and the funeral service is noon on Wednesday, Dec. 23. Graveside services to follow at the Ashland Cemetery.
