Dorotha Steenbergen Beam

AUSTIN – Dorotha Steenbergen Beam, 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at The Medical Center at Scottsville. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they are finalized by the Beam family. Hughes Funeral Chapel in Fountain Run in charge of arrangements.



Mrs. Ezma Arterburn Crowe

TOMPKINSVILLE – Mrs. Ezma Arterburn Crowe, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Monroe Health Care & Rehab.

Born Aug. 17, 1924, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late McKinley and Altie Arterburn. She married Clurie Crowe on June 8, 1941, in Spivey, Tenn., who preceded her in death. She worked in a sewing factory and was a member of Old Tompkinsville Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Carolyn Crowe of Tompkinsville and Roy and Wanda Crowe of Fountain Run; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Witt of Ekron; five grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ottie and Fred Arterburn, and one sister, Dean Arterburn Short.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home with Brother Marcus Sherfey officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.



Daniel Trigg Curd III

CAVE CITY – Daniel Trigg Curd III, 85, entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at his home.

He was the son of the late Daniel Trigg Curd II and Virginia Alice Hoover Curd and the widower of Elizabeth Veatrece Curd.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, past member of the American Legion, Civitan Club and Caveland Country Club. He was a past chairman of the board for Green River Valley Water District. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years. He attended the Cave City Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Allison (Bob) Burns, Labelle, Fla., and Stacy (Dale) Graves, Cave City; a daughter-in-law, Mitzi Curd Judd, Horse Cave; grandchildren, Kellie Nichole Rountree, LeeAnn Graves, Hillary Curd, Alice Curd, Elizabeth Burns, Hailey Graves and Bailey Graves; great-grandchildren, Trinitie Rountree, Laira Rountree, Isaac Donmyer and Abigal Warden; a brother, Brent Alton (Julie) Curd, Chula Vista, Calif.; sisters, Mary Virginia Burd, Betsey Allison Brown, both of Cave City, Rebecca (Jon) Goodman, Munfordville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Trigg Curd; a brother, William Martin Wilson Curd; and infant brother, Price Curd.

Funeral services with the Rev. Stephen Cavness officiating will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec.. 27 at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Cave City Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Frank Gayheart

BOWLING GREEN – Frank Gayheart, 70, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Bowling Green.

He was the son of the late Vernon Gayheart and Cornalee Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Augusta Vanderpool-Gayheart.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Shriners Childrens Hospital International, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.



Rachel Naomi Harper

CAVE CITY – Rachel Naomi Harper, 67, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Caverna Memorial Hospital, Horse Cave.

The Hart County native was the daughter of the late Elmer Kelley Harper and Florence Mae Goodhue Harper. She was a member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from Carhartt.

Survivors include a son, Johnny (Dawn) Waddell, Cave City; two daughters, Linda (Timmy) Waddell, Clermont, Ga., Theresa (Steve) Smith, Knob Lick; four brothers, Billy Harper, Walter Harper, Ralph Harper, Wayne Harper; six grandchildren, Christy Waddell, Kyle Smith, Chanea Smith, April Gnez, Patricia Waddell, Eric Sturgeon and eight great grandchildren, Chandler Horton, Kristopher Johnson, Damian Waddell, Jerimiah Waddell, Zoey Jaggers, Cody Gnez, Bianca Gnez and Lexie Waddell.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Harper and Dorsey Harper.

Funeral services with the Rev. Mike Fancher officiating will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Harper’s Cemetery, Horse Cave.

GLASGOW – Tressie Garrett, 88, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Grider Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.



GLASGOW – Clara Jewell Smith, 92, of Glasgow and formerly of Lucas, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at the NHC Health Care Facility in Glasgow. Visitation will be at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from 2 until 7 p.m. with the funeral service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the same evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jewell Family Cemetery at Lucas the following day.



MUNFORDVILLE – Tom Wolfe, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at his residence in Munfordville. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church with Brother Greg England officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Brook Funeral Home in Munfordville.
