John “Johnson” Hampton Amos

BOWLING GREEN — John “Johnson” Hampton Amos, 64, a native of Park City, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at his residence in Bowling Green.

Johnson was employed by Monarch Environmental for over 30 years and worked for S-R of Kentucky. Johnson was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He served with Zion Hill Baptist Church for 34 years; he was a former chairman of trustees, usher, brotherhood., van ministry.

He was the son of the late George Amos and Katie Amos.

He is survived by his wife: Geneva Hayden Amos of Bowling Green; four daughters: Deborah Robinson, Antioch, Tenn., Mary (Rev. Michael) Rice, Glasgow, Victoria (Richard) Boards, Bowling Green, Rita (Rev. Chris) Whitney, Bowling Green; three sons: Ronnie (Joyce) Robinson, Bowling Green, Ricky Joe (Margaret) Robinson, Nashville, Tenn., Keith (Tanaquil) Robinson, Glasgow; three sisters: Virginia Wilson, Bowling Green, Louiza Cleoria Bunton, Bowling Green, Maudie Veoria (Joe Henry) Boards, Bowling Green; five brothers: William Taylor Amos, New Albany, Ind., Roy Thomas Amos, Bowling Green, Robert Lee (Jasper) Amos, Bowling Green, Leroy Henderson Amos, Indianapolis, Ind., 21 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, adopted grandchildren: Letisha Davidson, Marieka Tisdale, Tyson Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Justin Johnson and Janos Briscoe, all of Bowling Green; godchildren: Nathaniel Tisdale, Mary Elliott of Louisville and Judy Burnam of Bowling Green; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives and friends; special friend, Michael Taylor, Bowling Green.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Edward Amos.

Arrangements are being handled by Burnam & Son Mortuary, Inc., 201 Center St., Bowling Green. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 230 North Hayden St., Park City. Funeral service will be at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009. Interment will be in Barlow Cemetery, Park City.

Timothy Lynn Gettings

TOMPKINSVILLE — Timothy Lynn Gettings, 41, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

He was the son of Willie Royce and Dean Emmert Gettings, of Tompkinsville, who survive.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with burial in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Monroe County School District.



Chester G. Devine

MUNFORDVILLE — Chester G. Devine, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

He was a farmer, member of American Legion Post 200, Rio Verde No. 698 F&AM;, former Hart County School Board member and a member of Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church. He served during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late Charles Devine and the late Verda Devine and husband of the late Frances Lee Devine.

He is survived by two daughters: Jacque Gilbert, Topeka, Kan., Jane Smith (Richard), New Cumberland, Pa.; two sons: James Michael Devine (Sharon), Owensboro, Brother Barry Devine (Kathy), Munfordville; five grandchildren: Walter Devine, Jennifer Clark, Jennifer Gilbert, Ashley Smith and Aimee Hampton; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by twin sons, Jerry Nelson and Terry Allen Devine.

Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, where the family will receive friends from noon to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Brooks Funeral Home with Brother Gary Talley officiating. Interment will be at Horse Cave Cemetery, Horse Cave.

Nancy Duval Neeley Miller

ELIZABETHTOWN — Nancy Duval Neeley Miller, 84, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at her home.

She was a Hart County native, a retired civil service accountant at Fort Knox and a member of Horse Cave Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.F. Neeley and Mallie Duval Neeley; her husband, Bub Miller; a sister, Mary Duval and a brother, William Ray Duval.

Survivors include two sons: Gary Miller, Charles-town, Ind., and Michael Miller, Elizabethtown; four daughters: Kasandra Ramsey, Greenville, Ind., Karen Ramsey, Henryville, Ind., Kathy Jo McPherson, Shepherdsville, and Debra Kay Hotka, Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister: Jean Davis, Glasgow; and a special friend, Debra Norris.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Winn Funeral Home Chapel, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary Lobb

SHEPHERDSVILLE — Mary Lobb, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, in Louisville.

She was the daughter of the late Woodford Bellamy and Amand Elmore Bellamy. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Lobb and Elbert Fisher.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Woodland United Baptist Church with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel.

PARK CITY — Roxy Louise Lester Perkins, 91, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Barren County Health Care Center, Glasgow. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. Visitation will be 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. HORSE CAVE — Evelyn Grubbs Smith, 91, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Hart County Health Care Center. Funeral services, under the direction of Winn Funeral Home, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. HORSE CAVE — Ruel G. Thompson, 76, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation



SMITHS GROVE — David S. Watkins, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
