Eula Opal Bush

GLASGOW — Eula Opal Bush, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Glenview Health Care Center in Glasgow.

Born in Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Ora Hume Wood and wife of the late Wendell Bush. Mrs. Bush was a homemaker and member of Caney Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters: Jewell Austin of Fountain Run and Dorothy Combs of Glasgow; two brothers: Charles Wood of Lucas and Archie Wood of California.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Hogue; three brothers: Floyd, Carlos and Willard Wood; six half brothers and half sisters: Frank Wood, Albert Wood, Flossie Smith, Mary Ward, Cecil Wood and Veachel Wood.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010. at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the funeral home.

Edgar Smith Turner

TOMPKINSVILLE — Edgar Smith Turner, 85, lifelong resident of Monroe County, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Monroe County on Dec. 23, 1924, to the late William H. Turner and Nellie Barlow Turner. He was married to Anna Dean Isenberg Turner. They were married on Dec. 20, 1947, in Monroe County. He was a farmer, a member and a deacon of New Salem Missionary Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Dean Isenberg Turner of Tompkinsville; one son and daughter-in-law: Clay Dell and Janice L. Turner of Summer Shade; one daughter and son-in-law: Doris Nell and Danny Smith of Tompkinsville; one sister: Alta Napier of Louisville; one brother: Beacham Turner of Louisville; six grandchildren: Melisa Spears, Maria Morgan, Danielle Wheat, Tracy Rials, Trisha Shackleford and Tiffany Martindale; and nine great-grandchildren: Chelsey and Chantz Spears, Amber and Ashley Morgan, Lily Butler, Shannon Jetter, Emma Martindale, Harley Shackleford and Anna Rials.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Delzie Wooten; three brothers, Harlen, Leland and Lawrence Turner; two half-sisters, Lillie Burks and Betty Myers; and two half-brothers, Ed and Levie Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County.

Friends may call at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Lois Ward Geralds

GLASGOW — Lois Ward Geralds, 86, died Tuesday night, Dec. 29, 2009, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Mrs. Geralds was one of 10 children of the late Rev. and Mrs. Walter Ward of Temple Hill. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Marae Geralds of Glasgow; three sisters: Devada (Donald) Smith of Oakland, Mary Jane Hall and Marie Ward, both of Glasgow; two brothers: Conlie (Jean) Ward of Georgetown, and B.J. (Doris) Ward of Cave City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ray Geralds, and an infant son, Edward Geralds.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Avo Turner

MOUNT HERMAN — Avo Turner, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Glasgow Health & Rehab in Glasgow.

She was the daughter of the late Grover Turner and Ida Turner and wife of the late Marvin J. Turner.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

BOWLING GREEN — John “Johnson” Hampton Amos, 64, a native of Park City, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at his residence in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) with interment in Barlow Cemetery, Park City.



ELIZABETHTOWN — Nancy Duval Neeley Miller, 84, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Winn Funeral Home Chapel, Horse Cave, with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday), and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.



PARK CITY — Roxy Louise Lester Perkins, 91, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Barren County Health Care Center, Glasgow. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel. Visitation will be 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Park City Baptist Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
