GLASGOW — Evans Bowman

GLASGOW – Evans Bowman, 87, of Glasgow, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his home.

His arrangements are incomplete, but are under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.



Ernesteen J. Childers

MORGANTOWN – Ernesteen J. Childers, 78, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her residence.

Ernesteen was born July 24, 1934, in Butler County, Ky., to the late Boyd and Effie Hawks Johnson. She was a member of Leonard Oak General Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Preceded in death by one son, Marvin Childers; five brothers, Geoffrey, Leslie, Sonny, Eugene and McClellon Johnson; and one sister, Mavis Shultz.

Expression of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104.

Ernesteen J. Childers is survived by three daughters, Martha Hunt, husband Eddie, of Morgantown, Sandy Sweitzer, husband Scott, of Bowling Green, and Theresa Garrett, husband Barry, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, Mareesa Johnson, husband Mike, of Morgantown, Terri Amos, husband Josh, of Morgantown, Andrew Deweese, wife Jodie, of Morgantown, Amanda Lynch, husband Jeff, of Morgantown, Felicia Lee, of Roundhill, Jennifer Guffy, of Tompkinsville, Alexis Gaw, of Glasgow, and Dakota Gaw, of Glasgow; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nadine West, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Jones Funeral Chapel, Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Brother Tommy West officiating. Burial will be in Fanny Rone Cemetery. Visitation Friday, March 8, 2013, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com



Gertie Esther Hawkins

CUB RUN – Gertie Esther Hawkins, 96, of Cub Run, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave.  

She was the daughter of the late Jesse Buster and the late Mary Blair Buster and the wife of the late William Clarence Hawkins.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Cherry Springs Baptist Church in Cub Run. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church with Brother Paul Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Springs Cemetery, Cub Run.

   

Manuel Logsdon

CAVE CITY – Manuel Logsdon, 77, of Cave City, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Metcalfe County Healthcare in Edmonton.

He was a Hart County native. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmit Logsdon and Nora West Logsdon and his wife Roxie Harvey Logsdon in 2006.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at Cave City.

Visitation at the funeral home in Horse Cave from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday until funeral time.



Herman Cecil Moore

GLASGOW – Herman Cecil Moore, 75, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Clifford Moore and Mary Brown Turner. Mr. Moore was a construction worker for Glasgow Paving most of his life and was an avid lover of coon hunting and fishing. He loved his kids and grandkids and was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed going to McDonald’s every morning talking with his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Jane Moore; a son, Wayne Moore (Sarah), of Glasgow; a daughter, Melinda San-ders (Jeff), of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Selena Moore Bulle, Caitlin Moore, Mikayla Sanders, Logan Sanders and Carlie Sanders; a great-grandchild, Hunter Moore; four sisters, Elizabeth Smith, of Iowa, Jenny Bailey, of Cumberland, Dot Azaveda, of Nevada, and Ida Lane, of Washington; five sisters-in-law, Judy Abney (Ralph), Georgia Burnley (Danny), Elizabeth Likens (James), Vicky Wilson (Ricky) and Mary Wilson (Bryant), all of Glasgow; a brother-in-law, Harold Wooten (Mary), of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Paul Moore; a sister, Emma Dean Parks; and his mother and father-in-law, Martha Jane and George Wooten.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Noah Dean Wilborn

GASTONIA, N.C. – Noah Dean Wilborn, “Noah Bear,” 13 months, of Gastonia, N.C., died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.

He was born Feb. 6, 2012, in Glasgow, to Bradley Wilborn and Cassie Ferrera Wilborn of Gastonia, N.C.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Stanley and Jill Wilborn, of Mount Hermon; maternal grandparents, James and Ann DeMarzio, of Edmonton, formerly of Weedsport, N.Y.; paternal great-grandparents, Edna and Robert Wright, of Tompkinsville, Faye Wilborn, of Mount Hermon; maternal great-grandparents, Doreene Scippo, of Edmonton, formerly of Auburn, N.Y., James DeMarizo, of Cayuga, N.Y.; cousins, Jack Stewart, Mason Stewart, Joseph Bryant and several aunts, uncles and other cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Scippo; maternal great-uncle, Ronald Scippo; paternal great-grandfather; Cleon Wilborn; and paternal great-uncle, James Hart.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

EDMONTON – Anna Beth Branstetter, 36, of Edmonton, died Monday, March 4, 2013. The celebration of Anna’s life will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be directed to South Edmonton Church of Christ.



GLASGOW – Sybil C. Holman Sneed, 80, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with entombment at Cave City Cemetery.
