Daphna J. Atnip
GLASGOW – Daphna J. Atnip, 82, of Louisville, and a former Glasgow resident, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Signature Health Care of South Louisville where she was a resident.
She was born in Allen County, the daughter of the late Harley Russell Pemberton and Minnie Jewell Miller Pemberton.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Donald Dinkins and James William Atnip. Daphna was the former owner and operator of Daphna’s Cafe and Fairdale Florist in Fairdale. She was a member of the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary where she had served as Unit Commander of Chapter 20 and also served as district commander and state commander. While living in Glasgow, she attended the Glasgow Baptist Church and more recently the Northside Church of Christ in Clarksville, Ind. She was also a member of the Owens Township Homemakers Club and was a Kentucky Colonel.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Dwight Dinkins Sr. (Debra) of Louisville; a daughter, Tressie J. Shofner (James) of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Marcie Nease, Scott Shofner and Daniel Dinkins Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Justin and Casey Nease, Jeff, Jenna and Tara Shofner and Daniel Dinkins III and Elizabeth Dinkins; three great-great-grandchildren, Brent, Madison and Ellie; a sister, Evelyn Croslin (Tom) of Owensboro; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary will perform rites at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and the public is welcome to attend.

HORSE CAVE – Doug Edwards, 54, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Hart County Health Care Center.
He was the son of the late Otis Edwards and Violet Dilley Edwards.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Winn Funeral Home with burial in Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mable Goodman
MUNFORDVILLE – Mable Goodman, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Hart County Health Care Center.
She was the daughter of the late Eugene Goodman and Maggie Wilkerson Goodman.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Leda ‘Catherine’ Gray
MUNFORDVILLE – Leda “Catherine” Gray, 81, of Louisville, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Kinney and Mary Thompson Kinney and wife of the late Charles Gray.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in Hodge Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alan Morris McCoy
GLASGOW – Alan Morris McCoy, 69, of Glasgow, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, in Glasgow.
Born in Romulas, NY, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Marunda McCoy. Mr. McCoy was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, a retired dairy farmer, a past member of the Holstein Friesian Association and served as a director on the board of the DHIA.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Schmidt McCoy of Glasgow; two sons, James A. McCoy (Kim) and Luke A. McCoy (Amanda), both of Glasgow; two daughters, Michele Swartley (Rodney) of Geneva, NY, and Melissa Florom of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Brandy Florom, Rachel, Kate and Jordan McCoy; two brothers, Paul McCoy (Pat) of Edmonton and John McCoy (Carol) of Ithaca, NY; two sisters, Nancy Chase (Karl) of Edmonton and Mary Snyder (Cy) of Chittenango, NY; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred Thomas
COLUMBIA – Mildred Thomas, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
She was a daughter of the late Will and Carrie Holmes Combest of Adair County. She was a homemaker, worked for Thomas Photography for several years and was a member of the Adair Chapter of Order of Eastern Star #435.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas, on June 21, 2006.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Thomas and wife Valerie, and Greg Thomas, all of Columbia; two brothers, Joe Combest of Glasgow and Billy Combest of Edinburg, Ind.; five sisters, Edna Young of Indiana, Gladys Murrell of Columbia, Helen Simpson of Glasgow, Bessie Willis of Columbia and Betty Logsdon of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Kristi Irvin and husband Marty and David Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Braxton Irvin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Louise Rogers.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
